This 12‑month industrial placement places you at our Peterlee, County Durham facility, giving you hands‑on experience in one of the world’s leading manufacturing operations. Role Overview You will be embedded in the EHS Department, supporting policy development, risk management, engagement, assurance and cross‑functional projects. Your role will develop technical, communication and leadership skills while keeping our facility safe, efficient and environmentally responsible. Job Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To Policy and Objective Support the EHS team in developing user‑friendly policies. Assist in achieving Facility, Division and Corporate EHS Strategy. Risk Management Contribute to cross‑functional improvement projects. Develop and deliver training to build workforce capability. Support event investigations. Engagement and Communication Create psychologically safe environments to encourage communication and improve EHS performance. Communicate key messages innovatively to engage the workforce. Lead forums and gather feedback to enhance the EHS function. Assurance Support assurance activity and understand compliance requirements. Conduct trend analysis using Power BI and track legal compliance. Engage with local authorities and maintain stakeholder relationships. Who We Are Looking For Minimum 2:2 honours degree in Engineering, Health & Safety, Environmental or Business Management. Critical thinker with strong problem‑solving skills and a learning mindset. Required Skills Knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act and Environmental Protection Act. Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills. Self‑motivated and capable of working autonomously while seeking support when needed. Data analysis, statistical techniques and process capability metric creation. Desired Skills IEMA awareness. IOSH / NEBOSH awareness. Recruitment Process Guidelines Online Application – submit your CV before the closing date.
