Job Summary The Lead GP is a pivotal role in the practice, providing leadership support to the team, exemplifying the professional approach required to deliver high quality services to patients and staff alike. This is a key role in establishing and supporting a culture and vision within the service that reflected PICS vision for a quality‑driven, supportive workforce model delivering the best care possible for patients whilst supporting the development and progress of its workforce. The lead will be supported by the Executive Team within PICS whilst being self‑directed and self‑motivated. Availability / Working Pattern Tuesday: 2 sessions Wednesday: 1 GP Lead session (non‑clinical) Thursday: 2 sessions Friday (or Monday): 2 sessions Key Responsibilities Demonstrate and develop the qualities and behaviours that reflect the best of General Practice and the values of PICS; being patient‑focused, creating evidence‑based solutions, with a can‑do, empowering approach. Patient safety and quality of care is the priority. The lead's role is to ensure processes and services work to this standard and to oversee and develop clinical governance processes within the practice. Work closely alongside the practice manager to support the practice and clinical team. Represent the practice at PCN meetings. Lead and chair practice clinical meetings, ensuring minutes are shared. Attend safeguarding meetings and lead the safeguarding role (can be delegated). Debrief clinicians when required. Line‑manage all salaried GPs and the Lead Nurse. Work with the secretarial team to support timely completion of SARs, including clinical oversight and use of IGPR systems. Assist in the management and resolution of patient complaints. Develop a practice culture of mutual support, ambition to provide the best care, and to create conditions where people in the practice realise their full potential. Ensure clinical team is compliant with audit, QOF and enhanced service planning. Maintain day‑to‑day information governance role. Represent the practice locally with PCN and stakeholders. Maintain clinical activity by delivering patient‑facing sessions as part of the session allotment. Participate in budgeting, maintain fiscal diligence with the service management team. Support the Practice Safeguarding Lead for children and vulnerable adults. Participate in clinical governance committees and support audit programmes. Key Requirements First medical degree (MB or MBBS) plus one foundation year as a medical practitioner. GMC registration. Experience as a GP. Leadership qualities.
