We provide easy and convenient mobility, connecting people and communities in South West London, southern counties of England, and the Isle of Wight.Join our team and help us continue to bring people together to get the most out of life.About the jobTo lead the Rail Community Officer team by example in the provision of a secure working environment for employees and customers of South Western Railway, enabling them to go about their business without fear of violence intimidation, or harassment.Your main responsibilities will be :Identify training requirements within teamAssist with briefing process for teamAssist with joint operational planningEnforcement of all railway legislation and other summary offences using conventional reporting methods.To prepare and submit written statements of evidence and to attend court to support prosecutions where necessary.Work as part of a team of Rail Community Officers and BTP staffTo compile concise, comprehensive reports on activity witnessedThe use of powers conferred to the individual by the Chief Constable of the BTPProactively patrol known crime hotspot areasEngage with railway employees and members of the public to ensure the safety and security of the networkEngage and establish relationships with the local community and non-railway agenciesTo act as a witness in court where and when necessaryTo actively engage in the prevention of anti-social behaviourTo supplement uniform presence at the scene of emergencies and major incidents etcTo respond to police requests in assisting control of access to sites, customer care assistance and any other appropriate dutiesYou’ll need to be :Previous experience of performing in a high‑pressure environmentPrevious customer service experienceRailway Byelaw knowledgeGCSE or equivalent level of educationTo be accredited under the ACPO Railway Safety Accreditation SchemePACE trained and maintained competencyOther qualifications as necessaryThis role requires the post holder to be accredited under the Railway Safety Accreditation Scheme. The post holder is required to pass the required training and police vetting process. The police vetting process suspends the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.Applicants who require a visa must have 6 months remaining at the time of their appointment. Training is full time and you must be able to commit to this.Working patternOn average you will be working 37 hours per week across 4 days per week.4-Week Rotating RosterWeek 1: Monday to Thursday - 08:00 to 17:15Week 2: Tuesday to Friday - 08:00 to 17:15Week 3: Thursday to Saturday - 15:45 to 01:00 (late shift)Week 4: Thursday to Saturday - 15:45 to 01:00 (late shift)With in the 4 week roster it will include 1 Sunday 10:45 to 20:00 and a Wednesday 13:45 to 23:00Hours and shifts can be changed depending on business needs.The RewardIn return we offer a competitive salary and a variety of valuable benefits, including :Free duty and leisure travel on SWR services for employeesFree leisure travel for spouse / partner and dependants (criteria dependent)75% discount on many other train operating companiesFull training and support with developmentExcellent pension schemeWe all belong at SWR.
