Graduate Veterinary Surgeon – Farm and Equine Practice Scarsdale Vets are a group of Veterinary practices in the Midlands, with eleven small animal practices across Derby & Burton, a state‑of‑the‑art small animal hospital and dedicated teams of Farm and Equine vets serving the East Midlands region. You will be based at our Farm and Equine practice in Markeaton. We are close to the M1, have good rail links and are less than 30 minutes away from East Midlands Airport. We have a supportive team of 7 Equine Vets, supported by a nursing team of 6 including a qualified EVN and 3 student EVNs. Everyone is super friendly and works well together. Within the team we have three certificate holders, a vet qualified in acupuncture and one of our vets is chair of the IVC equine clinical board. This is an excellent first job for anyone keen to be well supported in an equine practice with a friendly team and a broad range of bonded clients. Key Responsibilities Work 40 hours per week, with on‑call and weekend rotations; rota is generally 1 in 5. Shadow new graduates initially and then take the lead on call with support from an experienced vet until fully confident. Participate in inpatient and surgical care, using digital radiography, ultrasound, gastroscope, endoscope, shockwave and on‑site laboratory. Support the stable team and younger vets in various clinical and husbandry tasks.
