Solicitor (Real Estate) Employer: City of Edinburgh Council, Edinburgh Location: Edinburgh, Scotland Salary: £54,476 - £65,184 per annum Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks per year Job Type: Full-time (flexible) Seniority Level: Entry level About the Role The City of Edinburgh Council’s in‑house legal team offers an exciting opportunity for a Solicitor to join its Real Estate team. The role will involve a varied, challenging workload dealing with high‑profile developments across Scotland. You will work in a collegial environment and be encouraged to develop a full range of legal and other skills. Key Responsibilities Drafting and negotiation of planning agreements Providing planning advice and handling planning appeals / hearings Managing sales and purchases of property Investment leasing and asset management Engaging in development work and operational property advice Addressing general housing law matters Supporting high‑profile capital projects Required Qualifications Experience in property law Specific experience in investment work Experience in residential development is helpful (though not essential) Desirable: experience working for a public sector organisation Strong professional and commercial acumen to ensure relevant and appropriate legal advice Personal Attributes Positive attitude and willingness to learn Ability to work as part of a team to find solutions to complex problems Checks & Conditions Applicants must pass a satisfactory Standard Disclosure Scotland check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more abroad within the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will also be required.
