**Family Partner**

**Salary**:Circa £23,000 per annum.

**Location**:Newcastle-upon-Tyne, North of the county.

**Contract/Hours**:Permanent, Full-Time, 37 hours per week. Normal hours are Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, there is some flexibility required to meet the needs of the service.

**A bit about the role**

Children and Families Newcastle is a collaborative approach to early intervention. Working together with families, our teams help to identify needs, provide support and access to resources. The team links families with local support for issues they may be struggling with, such as supporting a child with additional needs, money problems or conflicts at home.

**How you'll help to create brighter futures**

Working in a team of Family Partners within the Children and Families Newcastle system, building relationships with children and families in order to understand families' needs and enable them to link with services and support appropriate to their specific needs and requirements. You'll be part of the Action for Children locality team as well as integrated with Health and Local Authority colleagues. As a Family Partner, you'll be:

- Working closely with families from initial contact identifying and arranging appropriate support, maximising the use of local resources and supporting progress of cases as appropriate.
- Using an approach which is solution focused, persistent and supports families to access resources within the Children and Families Newcastle offer.
- Working with families and listening to their own personal circumstances, ensuring the voices of children are heard and working with families to identify their strengths and challenges helping navigate them to services which will provide appropriate support.
- Offering practical help, reassurance, and encouragement to parents in developing confidence and parenting and employability skills.
- Contributing to the delivery of integrated services including those that support 1001 Critical Days, Reducing Parental Conflict, UNICEF Baby Friendly status, Child Friendly City and Supporting Families Programme.

Our job description for the Family Partner outlines the requirements of the role but the 'must-haves' are:

- Experience of delivery of family focused work.
- An understanding of the needs of vulnerable families and be able to offer solutions to meet their support needs, including evidence-based responses.
- An understanding of child protection issues and to act appropriately should an area of concern arise, in line with Newcastle City Council's policy and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships.
- The ability to complete whole family assessments, maintain records in line with Action for Children policies and procedures, and provide reports as required.
- Attending and/or chairing multi-disciplinary meetings as required.
- The ability to work in a range of settings i.e., schools, community groups and establish relationships/key contacts within these settings.
- The ability to travel across the Newcastle City area.
