Waste Supervisor

The Role

As a Waste Supervisor at Allerton Waste Recovery Park you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Mechanical Treatment Plant and the lined management and supervision of Mechanical Treatment Day Operators. In this role you will work on a rotating shift pattern of 6am - 2pm and 2pm - 10pm.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring that your responsibilities under the company’s Health & Safety Policy are complied with at all times.
- Ensuring that your responsibilities under the company’s Environmental Policy are complied with at all times.
- Daily management of the Mechanical Treatment plant
- Line Manager duties for Mechanical Treatment shift
- Prompt and efficient reporting of any and all Health and Safety matters
- Prompt and efficient reporting of any and all Environmental matters
- Complete line manager actions in relation to HSEQ investigations
- Management of Mechanical Treatment procedures and risk assessments in line with British Standards Institution (BSI)
- Ensure KPI’s are met in line with business objectives
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate daily reporting log
- Management of 3rd party contracts, including offtakes as required by the Mechanical Treatment Lead
- Maintain and monitor SSOW across Mechanical Treatment plant to ensure operations adhere to business Safety Rules
- Attend mandatory meetings as required by Mechanical Treatment Lead

**Qualifications**:

- Appropriate Certificate of Technical Competence - WAMITAB scheme or equivalent. IoSH Managing Safely or equivalent (desirable)
- Authorised Person or industry equivalent (desirable)
- First Aid at Work (desirable)
- Harness Awareness (desirable)
- IPAF certification for 3A and/or 3B (desirable)

**Skills**:

- Ability to use computer-based systems e.g. Microsoft Office.
- People management.
- Understand operation and maintenance requirements of mobile plant and machinery.
- Decision making within defined limits of authority.

Our Business
At Thalia Waste Management, we use state-of-the-art technology to make the most of rubbish and reduce the amount being sent to landfill. From recycling materials; composting; and mechanical biological treatment to energy from waste (EfW) facilities creating better environments. In a single year we process 300,000 tonnes of waste that is turned into energy. This generates the same amount of energy as approximately 600 million solar panels. Similarly we recycle circa 95,000 tonnes of waste. Both Milton Keynes and North Yorkshire bring together three different technologies on one site - mechanical treatment, anaerobic digestion and EfW. This allows us to extract any organic and recyclable materials (such as plastic and metals) which have been placed in with general, non-recyclable waste before using the rest to create energy. In Cambridgeshire we offer a range of treatment capabilities from our 400-acre Waterbeach Waste Management Park, providing services as part of partnerships with local authorities and directly for businesses and residents.
