**Pay**: FTE £23,601 - £26,057

**Purpose of the Role**: To contribute to and support the overall aims and ethos of the Trust, and provide best outcomes for pupils. The School Business Partner (SBP) will provide an essential finance and business support link between the individual needs of the trust’s schools and the trust central team.

**General Responsibilities**:

- **Work in accordance with ESFA policies and other outside agencies **as appropriate, keeping up to date with all relevant educational issues and legislation
- **Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures **relating to child protection; health and safety; confidentiality; and data protection.
- **Finance; **to ensure the efficient and accurate processing of each school’s financial operations and records in compliance with the trust’s financial procedures; reporting to the school and CFO as required**. **To support the CFO to ensure the statutory financial reporting requirements are met, including annual report, internal audit work and compliance with the Companies Act 2006 and Charities SORP.
- **Budgeting;** to partner each school with preparation of their annual budget and reforecasts, as required by the Trust financial procedures.
- **HR & payroll; **supporting the school SBM to prepare, process and monitor the administration processes required for recruitment, to maintain accurate HR and payroll records and to complete regulatory tasks.
- **School management functions;** working alongside each school to perform various research, analytical and maintenance tasks.

**Finance**

The SBP will work with the school and central team to ensure the efficient and accurate processing of financial operations and records in compliance with the requirements of the trust’s financial procedures, reporting to the school and CFO as required. This will include;
- Receiving and processing invoices and payments, including BACs payments, maintaining and reconciling monthly records
- Preparing and monitoring a monthly schedule of other creditors and debtors
- Prepare the monthly payroll journal
- Prepare monthly VAT return and transactions report
- Providing a month end information pack to each school
- Maintaining SAGE records, Schoolcomms and bank reconciliations for each school.
- Preparing and sending invoices
- Monitoring school cash flow
- Inputting the approved budget onto Sage
- Assisting the SBM with the preparation of year end information for statutory returns
- Preparing a budget monitoring report for each school
- Assisting the school with any finance queries

**Budgeting**

The SBP will partner with each school for the preparation of their annual budget and termly reforecasts, ensuring the agreed trust financial procedures are complied with. This will include;
- Ensuring budget and reforecast information is collated and recorded accurately on Access budgeting and Sage
- Publishing agreed budgets in Access budgeting
- Preparing budget reports and reforecasts for schools and LSCs.

**HR & payroll**

The SBP will support the school SBM to prepare, process and monitor the administration processes required for recruitment, to maintain accurate HR and payroll records and to complete regulatory tasks. This could include;
- Supporting the recruitment process
- Preparing and posting adverts for recruitment
- Requesting references
- Supporting schools to provide required salary information including annual salary statements
- Supporting the ‘leaving employment’ process
- Assist the school with the preparation and submission of the annual Work Force Census
- Assisting the school to ensuring Access HR records are accurate and up-to-date, including new starters and contract changes and required documentation
- Performing payroll reconciliations

**School management functions**

The SBP will work alongside each school to perform various task. These will include;
- Reconciliation and analysis of specific functions, such as trips and school meals to help schools manage expenditure and learn for the future.
- Update contracts on Every and maintain records. Manage upcoming renewals and support the tendering process.
- Networking knowledge and resources within the Trust, such as available grants, custom software reports, news and courses. etc.
- Ad-hoc projects.

**Knowledge & experience**
- Understanding of the Trust ethos and values. Experience and qualification in finance or business related discipline.
- Good knowledge of ICT packages and systems. (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Access, SAGE).
- Experience of working in a school is desirable.
