**Electrical Controls / Maintenance Engineer (ECE)**
**Fareham**
**Permanent, Full time**

Job Purpose
Predominantly based in the workshop, the ECE is responsible for the electrical assembly, installation, testing, and fault finding associated with all company projects and domestic facilities. It requires the post holder to co-ordinate resources and liaisewith internal and external key contacts to ensure work is delivered on time and to a quality standard.
**Responsibilities**:
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair
- Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
- Manage the company Pat Testing System and Log
- Direct and train co-workers on how to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
- Assist with the design of control circuits for existing and new build machinery including wiring to the PLC as well as creating panel layouts
- Assist the APM with the compilation of BOM’s and other technical project documentation
- Prepare sketches or follow Engineering drawings to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes
- Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment
- Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
- Ensure that all activities relating to electrical building maintenance are carried out and managed accordingly in line with current IEC Regulations
- Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services
- Assist the Business Support Team by testing and preparing Electrical and Mechanical spares for customers
- The post holder might occasionally be asked to work overtime or out of hours in order to ensure project deadlines are met
- The post holder might occasionally be asked to travel within and outside of the UK in support of company projects
Qualifications and Education
- Educated in an electrical engineering discipline (preferably Civil, Marine or Aircraft engineering) or equivalent working experience
- 18th Edition and 2391 an advantage
Specialized knowledge
- The minimum requirement for this post would be a 5-year indentured engineering apprenticeship in electrical/control engineering
- Due to the specialized nature of the work, at least 10 years’ experience within an electrical biased maintenance/mechanical role is essential
**Skills**:
- An understanding of the requirements of assembly, test, fault finding and rectification of complex electromechanical components and machines. A good understanding and experience of using test equipment
- Proven track record of the ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines
- Good interpersonal communication and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- Be able to effectively communicate in both written and verbal format
