**Job Summary**:
You will join the Well Construction Sensors & Measurements programme at Schlumberger Cambridge Research and be involved in the research and development of novel chemical measurements and sensors for fluids characterisation. The majority of the work will be lab-based, carrying out experiments towards testing and developing robust methodologies for the electrochemical detection of various target analytes in drilling fluids filtrates and brines, as well as evaluating various corrosion monitoring measurements.
You will be integrated into the research team and engage in weekly update meetings and regular reviews with the team. Tasks will be set during the update meetings, plus more regular informal meetings. Continuous engagement with your supervisor will ensure the project meets the set targets. An internal report is expected as one of the outcomes of your internship.
**Essential Responsibilities and Duties**:
- Ensure that laboratories and experimental activities are keep within Health & Safety standards guidelines
- Plan and carry out experiments under the general supervision
- Present the work to the Well Construction Sensors team
- Assist with the laboratory housekeeping
**Qualification**:
Studying towards a Bachelors or Masters in Chemistry or related field.
**Competencies**:
Required skills:
- Positive attitude
- Willingness to learn
- Good communication skills
- Good fundamental laboratory skills
- Basic data analysis (e.g. Excel)
Exposure to any of the following would be a plus:
- Laboratory practices
- Electrochemical techniques and NOVA software
- Analytical characterization techniques
