Business Recovery and Insolvency Associate

**Hazlewoods Business Recovery and Insolvency team **believe in building constructive relationships with contacts, Directors, and all other stakeholders to deliver high quality insolvency advice aiming to achieve the best outcome in an insolvency procedure.

We currently have three qualified Insolvency practitioners plus three support staff, primarily dealing with corporate insolvency cases. We deal with a high volume of solvent liquidations (MVLs) and a large number of insolvent liquidations (CVLs) and Administrations each year. We deliver a valued service to our contacts who, in turn, trust us by referring their clients to us often when their business is in significant financial distress. We also receive a high number of referrals from other areas of the firm, mainly comprising MVL work. We are looking for an individual who will primarily be focused on progressing our insolvent case work which can be very varied depending on the circumstances of the case.

These are typically SMEs with a turnover below £2million. You will be part of a friendly, hardworking team based at Staverton, although there may be opportunity to also work from our office in Cheltenham.

The right person will have a hands on role, experiencing the steps required in the insolvency process.

**The right person will**:

- Have prior experience of insolvency, however this is not critical as you will learn quickly during the role.
- Have a desire to learn and experience the insolvency process at a hands on level.
- Assist in the management and progression of a portfolio of insolvency cases.
- Assist and support Directors in the process to place companies into insolvency procedures.
- Take responsibility for certain elements of casework including storage of records, cashiering and administration.
- Liaise with agents instructed on cases including solicitors, surveyors or valuers.
- Liaise with internal departments as necessary to deal with any tax matters arising on cases.
- Assist the Insolvency Practitioners in ad hoc project work, including forensic or other assignments.
- Be involved in initial meetings with contacts and potential clients.
- Have a UK driving licence and car transport to site as required.
- Create strong relationships with contacts and Directors.
- Establish a strong network of contacts internally and externally.
- Be involved in internal compliance procedures i.e. money laundering procedures, bribery and ethical considerations

**You will thrive in this role if**:

- You are ACA/CA/ACCA qualified, or part qualified working towards completing your qualification.
- You are a confident self-starter, with the ability to work independently when needed.
- You have strong project management skills.
- Your IT skills are strong, to include Microsoft Word and Excel.
- You have excellent soft skills - flexibility; leadership; empathy, with the ability to deal with individuals at all levels and from all backgrounds.
- Your verbal and written communication skills are excellent, along with strong analytical and problem solving skills.

**Salary**: £38,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
