- Our client is recruiting four Head of Technical roles:_
- Head of Lighting & Video_
- Head of Sound_
- Head of Rigging_
- Head of Scenic & Gallery Installations_
- Their expert technical teams will deliver the physical elements of all shows, artworks and events, working closely with the Programming and Producing teams to realise innovative ideas and making sure they are created in a safe, sustainable and excitingway._
- They are looking for expertise from all artforms; visual and performing arts, live music, theatre, exhibitions, corporate events and beyond. The Heads of Department will collectively lead a diverse range of core staff drawn from a wide range of backgroundsand experience. Dealing with complex logistics, the team will make sure that all of their spaces, events and shows are delivered to an exceptional standard and accessible to everyone. They’re looking for people who are good communicators, enthusiastic, andwho want to be part of something new and unique._
- Responsibilities of Head of Technical_
- For all of the roles there will be some common responsibilities as below._
- _Responsible for the operation of all aspects of their technical equipment with particular emphasis on your specialised area of work_
- _Organise the smooth running of the get ins and fit up, show runs, and get outs, planning appropriate staffing levels and equipment for the department, and ensuring that this is carried out in accordance with current Health & Safety legislation and EnvironmentalGood Practice_
- _Liaise with visiting technical departments, ensuring their requirements are met, they are compliant with their policies and there is maximum exploitation of the commercial contract. Develop and promote production related income streams_
- _Cover the position of Technical Duty Manager on a rota basis and manage other technical departments in the absence of the relevant manager. Provide advice to all other users of the venue with regard to the safe and proper use of technical and stageequipment with specific emphasis on your specialised area of work_
- _In conjunction with other Department Heads plan and deliver an effective programme of maintenance (inc Planned Preventative Maintenance), housekeeping, stock control and testing for all appliances and performance related equipment in the building._
- _Oversee and operate the departmental overhead and show budgets in line with company regulations and procedures_
- _In conjunction with the Technical Manager, Director of Production & Building Operations and HR Department, plan and carry out the recruitment, development and training of technical staff, ensuring the needs of the department are met_
- Essential Requirements for Head of Technical_
- For all of the roles there will be some common person specification requirements as below._
- _Proven experience of your specialist area in one or more art form (live music, theatre, performance art, etc), preferably in a producing environment_
- _Experience of managing a large department with demonstrable leadership and supervisory skills_
- _Ability to manage and communicate with staff effectively at all levels_
- _Demonstrable experience of producing and managing budgets_
- _Ability to work well under pressure and to prioritise competing workload demands_
- _Experience of receiving large scale national and international touring productions_
- _Proven experience of scheduling and planning staff requirements_
- _Knowledge of technical drawing programs including Auto CAD or Vector Works_
- _Experience of Health & Safety practice and procedures including Risk Assessments_
- _Commitment to championing representation and inclusion at every level of the organisation with a proven ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds_
