Formed in Kingston upon Hull in 1991 as a manufacturer of insulated panels for cold storage, Paneltex is one of the world’s leading temperature-controlled vehicle body builders and converters. Thirty years later, Paneltex produces hundreds of refrigerated vehicle bodies, vehicle body kits, and portable cold stores a week out of seven specialised factories across the UK.

Paneltex is delighted to be working with Volta Trucks to produce a zero-emission vehicle with Paneltex’s well-known payload, durability, and excellence. The Volta Zero, the world’s first purpose built full-electric 16-tonne vehicle, will be built in Paneltex’s newest 140,000 sq. ft. facility, just off the A63. To meet the needs of this new venture, Paneltex is expecting to create 240 new jobs, producing upwards of 100 kits per week at peak production. The bodies will be produced in kit form and shipped to Volta’s factory in Austria for assembly.

**Position Title**: Production Team Leader

**Location**: Paneltex, North Cave, Brough, East Yorkshire

**Hours of work**: 40 hours per week - Monday - Thursday 0700-1730

**Salary**: Up to £15 per hour

**Other Benefits**: Equivalent of 32 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), Contributory pension scheme & Life Assurance cover.

**Job Overview**

The team leader will support the supervisor in delivering the strategic aims of the business as well as the daily and weekly targets for their own areas. Team leaders must be able to get the best out of their work colleagues. Though it is a hands-on role with a notable proportion of time on direct work, there will be a need to be able to deliver and organise tasks such as inspection, fault finding, problem solving, QA and so forth. Much of the role will be spent focusing work colleagues on achieving high levels of performance and dealing with issues, whether these are technical, supply or staff related.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**
- Ensure all work is done according to Company H&S procedures, and support improvement initiatives such as Who Cares Wins in your area.
- Support the supervisor in delivering the production plan for your area.
- Meet agreed Quality targets and report problems which prevent you from doing this.
- Encourage, collect and implement improvement ideas in your area to reduce waste and make your colleagues’ jobs easier.
- Work overtime where necessary to meet production needs and encourage your team to do likewise.
- Ensure that you and your team report accurately and timely all work completed.
- Work professionally and effectively with supervisors and managers to meet overall Company goals.
- Highlight shortages of parts before they disrupt the production schedule.
- Make sure you understand all the work activities in your area, and undertake training needed to fill any gaps.
- Travel when necessary in order to support the business with activities associated with your job function.
- Delivery of all activities in your area associated with the Operational Excellence transformational change program
- The team leader will deputise for the supervisor when required.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Excellent people management skills with the ability to get the best out of a team.
- Continuous improvement and lean manufacturing experience in an engineering / manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of key manufacturing processes and metrics (ToC, 6S, variable cost control etc.)
- Proven experience of supervising within a medium to fast paced manufacturing environment with responsibility for operational and quality KPI’s.

**Qualifications**
- A formal qualification (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline - desirable but not essential
- A recognised qualification in Health and Safety / Environment (i.e. IOSH / NEBOSH). desirable but not essential.
- Training or qualification in Lean manufacturing and process improvement (6 sigma, zero defects, 6S, kaizen, 7 wastes, etc) is desirable but not essential if have previous experience.
