Construction Buyer

**Buyer**

Fawkes and Reece are currently assisting a leading Regional Main Contractor in their search for a Buyer to join the team out of the head office in Whiteley. The contractor is one which works across the commercial, residential, education and care home sectorswith projects valued up to £20mil. You will predominantly be buying materials and plant with the occasional sub-contract package.

**As Buyer, your duties will include but not be limited to**:

- Ensure materials are delivered to sites in line with site programmes and specification, and are purchased at competitive prices.
- Maintain an up to date library of standard house type material schedules.
- Produce & maintain accurate site specific material schedules and process material orders.
- Monitor material order values against budget values and address large variations with the Regional Buying Manager
- Liaise with other regional buyers to negotiate some national bulk price agreements.
- Assist in the negotiation of some regional bulk price agreements and ensure competitive quotations are obtained for materials not covered by bulk agreements.
- Ensure the tender process is adhered to for all new sites in line with the regions tendering/procurement policy.
- Continually monitor price agreements to ensure they always remain competitive.
- Continually monitor supplier performance and hold regular meetings with main suppliers.
- Process site purchase orders for replacement materials and produce monthly reports detailing expenditure.
- Ensure the invoice checking procedure is being carried out and where necessary negotiate credits.

**The ideal Buyer will have**:

- At least 5 years experience in the Buying role
- Have worked for a Main Contractor, buying materials and plant specifically
