Domestic Services Cleaning Assistant

To provide a cleaning service to the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB).

**Main duties/ Key responsibilities**:

- Empty bins & replace liners
- Vacuum/sweep floors
- Damp mop floors
- Polishing
- Clean sanitary areas
- Dusting
- Glass cleaning
- Waste recycling
- Cleaning of toilet areas & kitchenettes
- Topping up of hand towel dispensers & soap dispensers
- Stores request forms
- Use of a computer to book holiday & sickness
- Provide cover for sickness & holiday

To ensure that the areas allocated are kept to a very high standard of cleanliness and the scientific and administrative staff are able to work in a clean and safe environment.

All waste is to be segregated and placed in the correct receptacle for recycling.
**Working relationships**:
You will be working for the Domestic Services Manager and/or the Domestic Services Supervisor, as part of the LMB Operations Group.

Person Specification
**Education / qualifications / training required**:

- Essential:_
- General standard of education.
- Computer literate.

**Previous work experience required**:

- Essential:_ Previous cleaning experience.
- Desirable:_ Previous cleaning experience in a lab (or similar) environment.
**Knowledge and experience**:
**Creativity and initiative**
- Essential:_ Knowledge of cleaning techniques.
- Desirable:_ Knowledge of cleaning machinery e.g. floor scrubbing machines.

- Proven skills in working independently with minimum supervision.

Further Information
We are looking to recruit two Domestic Services Assistants on a permanent basis, to provide an excellent cleaning service to the interior and exterior of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge. Full time working hours are 36 hours per week, 5.00am to 1.00pm Monday to Thursday, and 5.00am to 11.00am on Fridays. Part time hours are 15 hours per week, starting from 4.00pm to 7.00pm, Monday to Friday. Please specify in your cover letter which vacancy you would like to be considered for.
