The role will include the preparation of complex and a diverse range of tax returns, preparing responses to client queries and assisting with one-off advisory projects.

**The role**:

- Completion of associated tax computations including calculations of capital gains on securities, chattels and property transactions
- Completion of trust and estate tax returns
- Looking after the tax affairs of high net worth private clients, including non-UK domiciliaries
- Adherence to statutory and other deadlines
- Liaising extensively with clients in relation to day-to-day compliance and planning issues

Currently the portfolio includes a small proportion of non-UK domiciliary work; however, this is expected to increase in the future.

**The team**:
The Harrogate Tax department is made up of a team of 20 which includes two private client Partners, the Director of Corporate Tax, Three Senior Managers, three Managers, three Seniors, three Semi-Seniors and five Trainees. The mix of work in the group is varied and consists of clients including owner managed businesses, landed estates and high net worth individuals.

**The office**:
The Harrogate office is situated close to the Centre of Harrogate, in modern friendly offices with approximately 65 staff. We advise a wide range of commercial businesses, private individuals and not-for-profit organisations across Yorkshire and the North East of England and have strong links with the professional and financial community of Leeds, the financial capital of the region. We have a strong reputation in the area and our client base prominently feature owner-managed, small and mid-cap businesses, and private and estate clients.

**You**:
Applicants should be preferably CTA qualified, or equivalent.

Previous experience of using tax return software is assumed, as is use of Word and Excel. Some knowledge of computerised accounts packages would be useful.

**Salary/benefits**:

- 35-hour working week with flexibility around the core hours of 10am-4pm
- Paid overtime or time off in lieu (pre-approved and only where required).
- Working from home allowance of £25 a month.
- Eligibility for the firm’s Profit-Sharing Plan that runs from October to September each year. The scheme enables staff to share in the profits of the firm. Payment is usually c£1,000 for the full year. Paid in December.
- Salary reviews annually in October.
- Twenty-three days annual leave with an additional day added after each years’ service.
- Six-month probationary period.
- Life assurance cover of four times salary,
- Private Medical - Staff have access to a private medical scheme through the flexible benefits programme.
- Contributory pension scheme (The firm will contribute 4% of salary on a matched basis with employee from their date of joining)
