**Key Responsibilities of the Packing Technologist**:

- Timely delivery of all packaging, print and packing requirements for sales led projects
- Work closely with Procurement, NPD, and Sales teams to provide a thorough understanding of packaging requirements within any given project and advise broader team where necessary o Sizing of packs o Selecting appropriate materials for a pack from the existingsupply base
- Maintenance of a collection of packaging specifications - supplier format
- Optimise logistics costs with the Operations team through packaging design/sizing, stacking and formats
- Liaise with Operations and packing partners to optimise performance and improve productivity, reduce wastage and introduce new materials
- Communicate defined packaging requirements for products to wider team and suppliers
- Obtain initial packaging quotes and samples where necessary - checking against any price matrix set up with procurement
- Work directly with both packaging and food manufacturing suppliers to drive projects efficiently within the agreed timeframe with accuracy in line with parameters of the products specification to ensure highest finish and performance of overall product
- Take responsibility for the validation of packaging and packing execution at third party packaging and packing partners as part of sales led projects and attending trials where needed o Attends pre-production trials (or assessing by video) as required ?Undertake any other duties, which may from time to time be assigned. **Person Specification for Packing Technologist**

**Qualifications and training**:

- PIABC Level 3 Certificate in Packaging Technology is advantageous but not essential
- Degree in STEM or equivalent experience
- Or qualified by experience

**Experience**:

- Experience in a food packaging related role.
- Used to working on multiple projects with competing deadlines and challenges
