We are supporting local SMEs to develop, refine and launch innovative, new products and services across all sectors, these can be new to the market and/or new to the business. Support is delivered 1:1 and through innovation workshops and programmes. Collaboration is a significant catalyst for accelerating this and in particular accessing the wealthof academic and R&D capability in the region and nationally.
That’s where you come in the picture You will be part of a dynamic innovation team, with an exciting mission: Your goal will be to help local businesses create and launch new products and services into the market, in a variety of sectors, including technology,manufacturing and service sectors.
You are looking to contribute and develop your expertise by advising businesses from a wide range of sectors on all aspects of innovation, from new product/service development through to 'just doing things differently’. You are excited about fostering collaborationopportunities and you have a strong drive to implement innovative ideas and ideally will have worked with SMEs before.
We are looking for entrepreneurial people, with commercial and technical aptitude, who are passionate about delivering new and scalable solutions to real problems. We are looking for someone who feels comfortable networking, inspiring and catalysing peopletowards innovative action.
About You
- Have technical knowledge in the key areas of Strategy, Growth Enabling, Sales & Marketing, Resources & Operations and Financial planning
- Knowledge and understanding of the key national, sub-regional and local organisations and their role in supporting economic development and specifically business growth
- Understanding of customer focused approach of working with businesses to foster engagement and encourage commitment to working towards economic development
- Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- At least degree level business education, or degree level qualification with a management body or the relevant business experience to match those
Skills Required
- Sales and Account management skills
- Presentation skills both written and oral
- Excellent communication and networking skills
- Well-developed IT skills, including an understanding of computerised management
- Significant experience of sector(s)/business experience in the private sector, including at a senior management or Director level, ideally in manufacturing, or other sectors, with product/service design and development expertise from conception to commercialisation
- Proven track record in managing the range of business issues associated with periods of business growth
