Grafton UK are currently recruiting on behalf of a manufacturing company in the Oxfordshire area to source a commercially astute Buyer to drive cost effective procurement by using strong negotiation skills and category management techniques.
**Responsibilities of the ideal Buyer**:
- Responsible for all direct component related purchasing across the business.
- Supplier relationship management and development.
- New supplier sourcing.
- Monitoring and analysing current vs historic costs, purchase quantities, FOREX rates.
- Negotiate on pricing, quantities and lead times.
- Maintaining the correct level of stock to fulfil production requirements and maintain and optimal level of stock holding.
- Work alongside and communicate effectively with all departments within the business on forecasted arrival dates for stock.
- Preparing forecasts for purchasing budgets.
- Producing reports on purchasing related activities.
- Working within the ERP system to generate demand forecasts that form the basis of regular stock purchasing.
- Record and maintain accurate computerised records of all purchasing activities.
**Ideal Buyer**:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Effective negotiation experience.
- Analytical skills
- Able to interpret engineering drawings.
- Organisational skills necessary.
- Proven success of working in a fast-paced and changing environment as a completer/finisher who delivers against objectives.
- At least 5 years in a direct purchasing environment.
- Experience of running MRP's
- Experience of sourcing parts
- HNC/HND/Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing processes or Business Administration, desirable but not essential.
- Qualified or working towards MCIPS.
**Additional requirements**:
- The ability to work under their own initiative and occasionally on their own.
- Honesty and integrity.
- Enjoys working in a team.
- Adopts a "can do" attitude.
- Willing to adapt and take on new challenges and is driven to continually improve.
- Open to sharing and developing new ideas and methodology with colleagues.
- Understanding of importance of brand attributes.
