**Your new role**
National Highways has an exciting opportunity of a Programme Planner to join our Regional Investment Programme (RIP) department of our Major Projects directorate. This role will be based at our Manchester office but will operate on a hybrid model of home and office-based working.
In this role you will support the PMO Manager in delivering excellence in Planning and Scheduling at a programme level, enabling timely, safe, efficient and customer focused project delivery and contributing to measurable improvements in Planning and Scheduling quality.
**What you’ll be leading on**
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with the Programme Management team, to gain a full understanding of the baseline Project Control Framework Products and any project-specific constraints, and to provide advice and guidance on required Planning & Scheduling management processes and documentation and implementation of associated tools.
- Engage with supply chain planners to ensure that they comply with the required planning and scheduling procedures and best practices, ensuring collaboration and production of integrated programme plans that drive measurable results at project, region and programme levels.
- Create and maintain programme plans and schedules that are of a quality, logic, format & content that enable accurate and robust interrogation, enable Quantitative Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis, are contractually compliant, are integrated with quality targets across all schedules, and are capable of integration at Programme level.
- Develop and present regular reports on schedule status and performance with forecasts of anticipated milestone achievement dates, recommending actions where appropriate to mitigate potential time over-runs; to support the Programme Management team in the monitoring and reporting of performance, and in the identification and resolution of issues, risks and opportunities.
- Drive and monitor the change identification process, ensuring that this is consistent with corporate and Programme-specific management processes, tools, documentation and reporting, and assist in preparation of entitlements consistent with contractual compliance.
- Provide regular reports on all Planning and Scheduling activities, monitoring progress against planned activities, identifying forward activities, identifying good and poor practices and recommending improvement actions; to support resource planning, continuous improvement and management decision making.
**To be successful you’ll need**
- Experience of working in a complex programme and project environment.
- Experience of creating and maintaining project plans and schedules in a major multidisciplinary environment.
- Experience of capturing and analysing schedule data at a project level.
- Experience of scheduling tools and systems, specifically Primavera P6, Deltek Acumen Tools.
- Track record of managing relationships with multiple stakeholders and evidence of skills to influence relationships for positive outcomes.
- Skilled and experienced in Project and Programme Management methodology, tools and techniques (Primavera P6 and Deltek Acumen Fuse tools, APM, Prince2, MSP), with an understanding of the NEC contract and its requirements from a planning and scheduling perspective.
