Role: Mechanical Design Engineer

**Salary**: Good - Dependant on experience

Location: East Grinstead, West Sussex

Hours: 8am - 415pm. 3pm on Friday (Hours can be flexed to suit)

Expenses: All covered upfront by the business

Benefits: 8% Pension Contribution from the employer, 4% from the employee, 25 days holiday plus stats, Annual Pay rise, Annual Bonus.

**The Business**:

**Job Purpose**:

- To create mechanical designs for a range of different assembly machines, you will either be designing from scratch of modifying an existing machine
- All products are bespoke equipment for blue chip car manufacturers mainly, such as electrical power train.
- To create timing diagrams and functions lists for machine designs
- To ensure safety both in designs and implementation in house and on customer sites
- To provide guidance and advise on a technical level to other departments
- To liaise with site teams to ensure smooth interaction between site and engineers
- To represent us to our customers
- To interface with both in house sub contract staff and exterior design resources
- To support other departments within the company including Sales, Purchasing, HR, Finance and Factory
- To work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team
- To support the mechanical design requirements for both powertrain and car body technology sides of the business
- Driving licence and car required (expenses covered) as customer visits are required for concept discussions. Also, once a machine is installed and running it could be that a site visit is required to analyse the problem(s) with a view to resolve this(these)issue(s).

**Key Elements to the role**:

- You will need to be a car owner
- Need to have experience with Inventor design package
- Knowledge with Data Management system - they use Vault
- You will be required to work within specifications from customers from customers
- Design Machines for Automotive Manufacture (new & modify existing)
- Ensure Safety, Safety critical investigations
- 2D/3D Design
- CAD Administration

**Experience required**:

- Designing from scratch of modifying an existing machine
- All products are bespoke equipment for blue chip car manufacturers mainly, such as electrical power train.
- Industry experience would ideally be in automation and special purpose machinery design, with good working knowledge of mechanisms, materials, jigs & fixture design.
- Good understanding and working knowledge preferred in the following robots, nutrunning systems, cameras, sensos, pressing systems, pneumatic actuators e.g.
- Educated to a minimum HNC in mechanical engineering preferred
- Experience in special purpose design with knowledge of assembly techniques
- Good working knowledge of mechanisms, materials, jig and fixture design
- Experience of 2D and 3D CAD
- Experience of working safely in potentially hazardous environment
- Experience in MS office
