**Job description**:

Transport Support Unit is an independent unit within the Ministry of Defence based in Redford Barracks, Edinburgh, **we** supply transport to Ministry of Defence personnel covering Scotland either with a driver or as a self-drive, Transport Support Unit manages 130 vehicles ranging from Cars Mini-Buses, Vans and coaches, the driver's primary role will be to drive coaches. We seek a motivated team player to work an essential role within the Transport Support Unit, responsible for supporting Military, Cadets and Civil Service personnel, Delivery through driving, maintaining vehicles, ensuring all Safety, Health, Environment and Fire (SHEF) instructions are adhered to. You will also be responsible for vehicle husbandry and the completion of relevant paperwork associated with the operation of motor transport vehicles.

This vacancy is advertised at 37 hours per week. Working 9.15 hours per day 4 days a week with alternative Mondays and Fridays.

We ask that you hold a full Cat B Licence.

Previous experience in a Driving role - desirable but not essential.

**Person specification**:
Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:

- Undertake all work as detailed by the Transport Manager and complete tasks in conjunction with Drivers’ instructions, and appropriate regulations.
- Work as part of the driver shift system.
- Assist with all general maintenance and cleanliness of the working fleet.
- Ensure all vehicles are left in a clean and tidy condition and refuelled.
- Convey passengers and mail throughout the country.
- Carry out basic maintenance and road safety checks on vehicles before and after use (first and last parade service).
- Carry out other tasks, within the scope of the grade, as may be required from time to time.

**Licences**:
