**Purpose and Scope**:
As an Aviation Firefighter you will be responsible for providing life and asset protection to the site by dealing with all emergency situations and other incidents that may arise. Covering a day shift (0600-1800) on a 42 hour average week on a rolling shift pattern (shift to be confirmed).
**Key responsibilities**
- Provide fire,emergency or medical response to the Fleetlands site at aircraft or domestic incidents.
- Comply with the regulations contained within the Fleetlands Business Manuals, station policies/procedures and other locally agreed documents.
- Have a working understanding of current legislation applicable to Aviation Firefighting, training and competence; CAP699, CAP168 chapters 8 & 9, National Occupational Guidance (NOG)
- Responsible for maintaining themselves at a state of operational readiness for deployment at immediate notice to any fire, emergency incident, medical response that may be encountered during a tour of duty (shift). This may be physically and mentally demanding, strenuous in potentially hazardous situations.
- Provide fire safety training, guidance and maintenance tasks for the site with appropriate training.

Ensure that operational appliances and firefighting, medical equipment is ready for use in emergency situations to allow a rapid and safe response.

Acquire and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the potential hazards to be found on site and the resources available to enable incidents to be dealt with in the most effective manner.
Operational Competency
Undergo continuous training and assessment, both technical and physical, to ensure the competency to attend emergency situations is maintained.
**SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF RECRUITMENT**
- Pass Chester step test and firefighter carry test with onsite trainer (e)
- Pass onsite medical to required standard (e)
- Must be able to achieve Security Clearance (SC) (e)
**Experience**:
- Previous experience within the Fire Service and competent in the role of firefighter (e)
- Previous experience as an Aviation firefighter (d)
- Provide evidence of 3 consecutive years of an annual training programme. Showing competence in all firefighting areas. (e)
**Professional Qualifications/Education and Training**:
- Full UK manual car driving licence (e)
- LGV driving licence (d)
**Functional**:
- Good communication skills; (e)
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and other IT packages; (e)
- Decision making skills using initiative; (e)
- Good level of writing skills (e)
- Maintain a good level of fitness and pass regular fitness tests. (e)
