**Statement of expectation for the role**:
**PURPOSE OF THE POST**:
**The Strategic Development unit is looking for a ambitious police constable to join the team. The role will be at the forefront of supporting the force with meeting the requirements of the recent HMICFRS Inspections.**

**You will have a high attention detail, combined with a sound understanding of either uniformed policing or experience as a detective. Your experience will key to informing the reality testing process that the force has implemented. In addition to supporting the forces reality testing process, you will be responsible for reviewing HMICFRS reports, developing action plans and audit schedules in response to these HMICFRS reports.**

**The role holder will be expected to have exceptional interpersonal skills as you will be interacting with the senior leadership teams of the force on a regular basis.**

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**To work within the service improvement team to research, monitor, review and implement the recommendations of HMICFRS. You will be expected to draft reports and commission action plans in response to HMICFRS workstreams and reality testing thematic reviews. You must also be available to support the operational improvement Superintendent with directorate tasking when required.**
- **To produce high quality reports using the full functionality of MS Office in response to directorate reality testing processes and in response to HMICFRS workstreams.**
- **To conduct reality testing as directed by the service improvement manager and operational improvement superintendent, this will require a agile working approach and for the post holder to travel across the force estate.**
- **Provide impartial evidence-based insight and context on all aspects of crime/disorder, community safety priorities and emerging issues in response to the forces reality testing schedule.**
- **Improve the understanding of HMICFRS across the force estate and to assist directorates with planning a business response to meet the requirements of HMICFRS workstreams.**
- **To support when required, the strategic insights team with data relevant to the forces service improvement strategy.**
- **To support the service improvement manager with horizon scanning, supporting with the administration and development of a bespoke product to meet the strategic requirements of the force.**
- **Work in collaboration with other organisations and academic bodies to identify and capture best practice and integrate into the organisation to provide an improved evidence based service that is efficient and effective. Prepare and contribute in the design, development and delivery of business improvements and innovation throughout both the force and its strategic partner areas**
- **Maintain, develop and champion the business toolkits and analytical techniques ensuring they meet the needs the organisation, support programmes of work and offer value for money (demand and resource modelling, power BI).**

**Selection Criteria Skills**
- **Excellent research and analytical skills to identify the required information to facilitate accurate assessments of strategic priorities.**
- **Excellent report writing skills to provide key information in relation to the assessment decision that is both clear and auditable.**
- **Good decision making skills and the ability to communicate decisions to stakeholder groups and effectively manage their expectations.**
- **Ability to present information in a clear and concise fashion.**
- **Ability to identify and adapt to changing priorities.**
- **Good knowledge of Microsoft Office in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint.**

**Knowledge**
- **Ideally educated to degree level or comparable experience to the level of this role, with an ability to demonstrate aptitude in understanding research, analysis and business intelligence.**
