As the Head of Control Testing you will be part of the Information Security team, particularly focused on setting up and running the Controls & Compliance Programme in planning, organising, overseeing, and delivering the Testing for each area of InformationSecurity, across IT, Business Lines and Functions, ensuring execution of a comprehensive and thorough test plan to ensure overall Policy effectiveness.

In addition to the standard Tester skillset, this role requires you to have solid experience of Information Security, user engagement/communications, test planning, documentation, execution, reporting etc [including the ability to implement a testing approachand methodology], with a techno/functional understanding of business systems, along with a good grasp of necessary business processes and compliance in these areas.

It is vital that communication to business and function leads and to IT Services is appropriate, considered, and timely. You will be required to demonstrate prior expertise in this area and play an active hands-on role through all aspects of the Testingrequirements for the Programme.

The role will be based in York and reports directly to the Chief Information Security Officer, with whom you will work to deliver the goals of the company to have a stable, performant, and fit for purpose control testing environment that can grow alongsidethe business. This is a role that requires an individual who can work independently, finds fulfilment in a challenging, fast paced environment, and takes accountability to meet & drive the needs of the programme.

Responsibilities includes
- Full Testing Planning and Execution/Resolution
- Customise and localise standard test scripts and then evaluate assigned controls for design and operating effectiveness, raise issues as appropriate. Ensure that assigned control assessments are accurate, effective, abide by procedures and templates, andmeet quality control requirements.
- Ensure that assigned control assessments are delivered on time, in accordance with the assessment plan.
- Supervise the delivery of assigned control assessments using experience and knowledge to intervene and redirect testing as required, resolving or redirecting escalations as required.
- Manage control owners and other stakeholders, ensuring the success of each assigned reviews, minimising contention where possible and requesting support where deemed necessary.
- Manage the documentation of distinct control types, covering key aspects, such as remit, main processes and handovers to other teams. Ensure that issue owners complete sufficient root cause analysis for all material issues and have appropriate remediationplans in place. Bridging the gap and building a valued relationship between InfoSec and IT and Business Users
- Ensuring business goals are balanced with cost and quality
- Ensure the delivery of each test plan/execution is as effective, and glitch-free as possible
- Each test plan is well planned & thought out to maximise success with the existing constraints on the business and its end users.

**Requirements**:

- Proven ability in leading Test phasing and deliverables within a large programme
- Excellent understanding of detailed business processes and business needs
- Meticulous attention to detail, excellent problem solver, and ability to communicate with a wide range of people
- Experience of controls and compliance implementation
- Self-Starter & ability to demonstrate excellent relationship building skills
- Pragmatic in solutioning
- Experience working within a global team and multiple businesses with a group
- Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to get the job done Able to communicate effectively and credibly

Essential Skills:

- Experience in technology, information security and/or IT risk management
- Working knowledge of current IT risks
- Ability to work with broad (and potentially confused) requirements and formulate a concise and tailored response Ability to interact with groups and individuals to explain and guide security controls and compliance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as business acumen Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills
