Job Introduction
Our 14 household waste recycling centres accept around 85,000 tonnes of waste per year and accept 42 types of material.

The recycling centres are visited approximately 1.6 million times a year by residents.

You will play a key role in helping us maintain the best service for residents, be sustainable and provide good value for money.

Main Responsibilities
Your day-to-day duties will vary, and may include the following.
- helping the public use the site in a safe manner, adhering to all Health and Safety guidance.
- providing friendly, informative and professional customer service.
- protecting yourself and your team by promoting high standards of health and safety.
- safely operating equipment and machinery and reporting any faults and issues.
- working with commercial traders, providing advice and handling payments.
- reporting unauthorised waste depositing and promoting environmental sustainability.
- supporting other HWRC teams as part of the Staffordshire HWRC Network.

You'll be:

- a strong team player
- have a working knowledge of health and safety legislation and operations
- a flexible approach to duties, willing to learn and be trained
- good verbal and written communication skills - to communicate with site staff, management, clients, contractors and the public
- strong numerical and literacy skills and paperwork and recording skills
- an understanding of recycling and recyclable materials is an advantage
- trained First Aider, or willing and capable of being trained
- a Full UK driving licence
- experience in operating a above 10 ton 360 wheeled excavator. ( or willing to learn)
- experience in the operation of Household waste recycling centres (HWRC'S)
