Phlebotomist

**Pay= £11.67 per hour**

We are looking for a part -time phlebotomist with excellent communication and clinical skills to join our friendly and supportive team.

Fairlands practice are looking to welcome a qualified phlebotomist into our busy practice, to support our nursing team. Working under the direction of the lead nurse and as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team, the post-holder will be responsible for performing tasks to include:

- Working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols to assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care; **Collecting samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures, ensuring correct storage, labelling, recording and efficient dispatching of samples;**:

- Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible, and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample;
- Checking patient identification against GP or nurse request, and confirming with the patient whenever possible;
- Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff;
- Notifying the GP of any significant patient issues;
- Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.

Please note that you may need to work at two sites as needed, as The Fairlands Practice has 2 surgeries (Fairlands Avenue) and another surgery a few minutes car drive away (Glaziers Lane, Normandy). The Fairlands Practice provides general medical services to around 13,000 registered patients.
