About the role
The Building Services manager is responsible to the Building Services Manager for supporting and maintaining the Cromwell Hospital estate and assets effectively and efficiently in compliance with all statutory compliance and mandatory health related guidance e.g., Health Technical Memoranda (HTM), as far as they impact on the engineering, and building systems and grounds of the hospital.
You will be directly supervising a team of inhouse trades workforce, including specialist contractors, ensuring all work and projects are completed safely and within agreed times.
You will have proven experience in managing mechanical and electrical reactive tasks in a building environment, a flexible member of the team who is able to provide advice and guidance on a wide range of estate issues.
Additional duties include:
- To be Approved Person (AP) for Water Safety Management and Medical Gases
- Manage, co-ordinate and prioritise the engineering planned and reactive maintenance work of both in-house and contracting staff to ensure the service is delivered in a safe and timely manner and to high standards.
- Professionally audit/review and maintain Estate’s compliance information and maintenance-based management systems
- Develops and maintains effective systems of communication, written and verbal, formal and informal, with own estates team
- Monitors the performance of the estates operational team against its agreed objectives and is responsible for taking corrective action where necessary.
- To provide guidance and identify necessary training for craftsmen and apprentices in order to develop additional skills to improve the persons abilities and overall effectiveness.
- Provide expert specialist and professional building and engineering expertise to other estates staff, senior management of the organisation and external organisations
- To be Approved Person (AP) for Water Safety Management and Medical Gases
Qualifications/Experience
- Mechanical or Engineering Background ( essential)
- Accredited H&S training e.g., NEBOSH Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely
- Suitable IT Skills e.g., NEBOSH Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely
