Jackson Hogg Procurement & Supply Chain are partnering closely with a leading manufacturing organisation in Northumberland on the appointment of a Senior Buyer to join their procurement team. As Senior Buyer, you will have responsibility for the buildingand development of relationships with a range of global suppliers over the full product life cycle.

This includes discovery of new suppliers and global supply chain routes, price and contractual negotiations for products and/or services, ongoing supplier relationship management and continuous improvement of the supply chain strategy.

The role will also include coaching and developing Buyers within the wider team.

The working hours are Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:30 and Fridays 08:00-15:30 with 26 days holiday plus bank holidays. There will be some flexibility to work from home after an initial training period.

**The Role**
- Identify, appraise, source and select suppliers in line with procurement strategy and customer requirements
- Carry out commercial and contract management negotiations with suppliers, including agreement of terms and conditions
- Proactive supplier risk management with development and deployment of mitigation plans
- Manage and refine strategic supplier evaluation and selection process
- Own the cost of complex Bill of Materials for selected products
- Monitor supplier performance measures
- Work with QA department and suppliers on Non-confirmance resolution and corrective action plans

**The Person/Requirements**
- Previous senior experience within a strategic procurement/sourcing function
- Strong procurement background within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Excellent negotiating and influencing skills
- CIPS Level 4 or above, or at least 5 years procurement experience
- Strong IT skills including ERP/MRP systems
- A 'values' driven person who builds high performance teams
- Able to work under pressure
- Experience of people management
