Non-domestic Epc Assessor
**Salary: £30,000-£40,000 p.a.**
**Location: Home-based with travel to clients’ businesses across the UK. You will need to be permanently living in the UK**
**This role would be ideal for an EPC assessor with experience in hospitality businesses who wishes to use their skills and knowledge to develop a career in energy efficiency and sustainability.**
**About us - Hospitality Energy Saving & Sustainability**
We’re the only energy and sustainability experts working exclusively in the hospitality industry and we get a real buzz from helping businesses become more efficient and reducing their environmental impact. The savings we’ve delivered run into millions of pounds and we’ve saved a whole load of carbon as well.
Our clients range from single site operators to some of the largest hospitality businesses in the UK. They include pubs, restaurants, hotels and stadiums, in fact any business where you’d go to eat, drink, sleep or be entertained.
We believe we’re the best at what we do because of our passion combined with the experience we’ve gained from spending most of our lives working this incredible industry.
But, we now have a problem, although it’s a good problem. We never advertise, but our client list is growing, - so we must be doing something right but this means we’re starting to get a bit stretched, so that gives us a fantastic opportunity - we can add to our small but growing team. This is exciting because we can bring in more ideas, more innovation and more experience, which can only make us even better at what we do.
We are now looking for a qualified Non-Domestic EPC assessor / Site Auditor to join us.
We’re looking for someone who shares our passion. Someone who in addition to relevant experience and qualifications has first-hand experience of hospitality.
We don’t have an office, we spend our time either working from home or visiting the sites and offices of our clients so you’ll need to self-motivated, be comfortable working remotely and have a suitable environment at home to do that in. You’ll also need to be able to travel to clients sites on a regular basis. Approximately 80% of our clients sites are south of Birmingham / Home Counties, so being based in the south would be beneficial.
**The Role**
In this role you will not only be carrying out carrying out energy assessments and producing EPC’s for our clients, but you will be involved in the wider scope of assessing the operational performance of a building - How it’s used by the staff, is the equipment appropriate and operating correctly, what technology could be used to make it better. This is a hands-on role where you could also find yourself visiting sites, identifying opportunities, making building system changes, training staff and helping the drive towards decarbonising buildings.
**What will you be doing**:
- Collating and analysing data
- Visiting sites and carrying out audits and surveys (often getting to site first thing early in the morning prior to the first staff arriving)
- Using recognised EPC software to complete assessments and surveys
- Identifying potential technical solutions
- Preparing reports and presenting information and data
- Proposing strategies and goals
- Identifying trends, anomalies and opportunity
- Making adjustments to building systems to ensure efficient operation
- Training site teams in the operation of systems and best practice
- Monitoring on-going performance
- Building relationships, particularly with clients and their teams
- Attending meetings with clients
As with any small business, we all need to be flexible, so from time to time you’ll get involved with other areas of the business.
**Experience**:
It’s essential that you have experience in:
- Analysing energy data
- Carrying out site surveys, completing energy assessments / EPC certification and Recommendation Reports
- Completing audits and assessments in hospitality businesses, particularly pubs, restaurants and hotels.
- Good knowledge of MEES compliance and exemption criteria
- Understanding building M&E systems
- Knowing how commercial kitchens, cellars etc work
- Behaviour change and training
- Writing reports which are clear and action based
- Ongoing monitoring and targeting
- Dealing with clients / senior personnel
- Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint
It will also be good if you have experience in some of the following areas:
- Energy and carbon compliance such as ESOS & SECR
- Energy and carbon technology suitable for hospitality businesses
- Energy and carbon standards and disclosure schemes
- Environmental and sustainability programs
**Qualifications**
- Non-Domestic Energy Assessor qualification of level 3 or above
- Possibly a relevant energy, environment or technical degree.
**Skills and attitude**
Having relevant experience and / or qualifications is obviously important, but it’s essential that you have the right attitude, culture fit, eagerness and ability to learn a
