**Finance Manager**

**Full time, permanent**

**Based in St Albans (Hybrid)**

**Role purpose**:
To operate as an effective Business Partner to the Procurement Function, including collaborative working with the Procurement Leadership Team and Procurement Executive.

Work together with Procurement team to influence the strategy, decision making and performance via constant monitoring, analysing and interpreting of internal and external data.

**What you'll be doing**:
**Business Partner**
- Provide first class financial support to the Procurement Exec and Senior Procurement Leadership team by influencing behaviours and performance through insights & visibility of key drivers
- Support the wider business through volatility of Macro economic environment, focusing on impact of key commodity markets on business current and future performance on both direct and indirect purchasing and presenting this through a brand lens to supportCommercial decision making
- Ensure Business Partners understand financial priorities and provide support and coaching to improve their financial / commercial skills
- Drive margin enhancement initiatives (drive competition between suppliers, alternate sourcing, enhanced specification)

**PPV**
- Challenge Purchase Price Variance forecasts, focusing on actual vs standard pricing
- Optimise forecast using volume and price analysis, identifying trends and ensuring scenario modelling is presented clearly so decisions are easily made
- Working with Premier Business Services (service center) to ensure adequate control and accuracy in reported business performance against areas such as Material Price Variance, Rebates, Packaging Levy’s and FX
- Review of purchase demand volumes against spend cover, contract pricing and external market forecasts (Kairos, Mintec) with appropriate levels of interrogation and challenge
- Working alongside business partners to ensure implementation of key projects, including areas such as Plastic Tax and Tariffs to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and long-term profitability of the business
- Ownership and control of Supplier rebate and other accruals & provisions to help support wider business objectives

**Actuals, Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Planning**
- Own, develop & improve all reporting cycles embedding accuracy and data integrity throughout all processes
- Review financial performance and ensure significant issues, risks and actions are clearly communicated and there are no surprises
- Provide insight and in depth understanding of underlying performance, key drivers and trends.
- Lead challenge of Procurement PPV forecasts and in close collaboration with the Procurement Leadership team to ensure they are both robust and deliverable with clearly assigned actions to deliver the annual performance targets
- Develop and monitor Supplier action plans to realise opportunities and mitigate risks
- Development and preparation of 3-year strategic category plans in partnership with the Procurement team
- Reinforce communication of financial timetables and requirements to ensure all deadlines are achieved

**Commercial Proposals & Tenders**
- Review and approve all commercial proposals, prior to communication to customer
- Support the tender and new vendor process
- Ensure financial risks /opportunities and sensitivities clearly communicated to the appropriate level within the business

**Leadership & Teamwork**
- Line management of a direct report
- Lead team to challenge and improve the efficiency & effectiveness of existing processes looking to make proposals for improvements for both Procurement and Finance functions.

**Systems & Controls**
- Support the development, roll out and enhancement of Reporting Systems from an end user perspective identifying and driving best in class reporting and analytics using Pyramid Analytics, SAP and Excel based reporting

**What we need from you**:

- Solid finance experience gained within FMCG
- Qualified Accountant - ACMA/ACCA/ACA/CIMA (or equivalent)
- Ability to challenge and influence as part of a matrix environment.
- Experience of creating and persuasively presenting strategic recommendations
- First class analytical skills
- Experience of SAP/BOBJ would be helpful
- Previous people management experience is essential
