People Manager

As the People Manager you will lead the People team, with responsibility for all people focused activities across the employee lifecycle. Symprove is a family focused business with major growth ambitions, and you will play a key role in supporting our expansionin the UK and overseas, whilst upholding our values as a supportive and caring employer.
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be a key driver of Symprove’s team growth and development by ensuring that all managers are equipped with best practice to foster a high-performance culture.
Last year the business co-created a set of company values, and you will be responsible for supporting the senior leadership team and all employees in upholding and living our values.
Your role will be varied, hands-on and dynamic requiring you to set a clear people strategy to guide people activities whilst also providing front-line support to the senior leadership team, line managers and employees on all HR and people focused matters.The role will be based on 2 days per week working from home the rest of the week based on site.
The People team is supported by Peninsula and Health Assured and Symprove uses Bright HR and Bright Safe for all documentation.
**Key responsibilities**
- Develop a clear people strategy to guide people activities
- Provide first line advice and guidance to the senior leadership team, line managers and employees
- Provide line managers with support as required related to their teams.
- Drive the Company’s culture and values in all aspects of the role
- Ensure that all people databases are updated and are well maintained
- Continuously monitor and review policies and processes in line with new and updated employment legislation
- Manage talent and succession planning
- Provide advice on recruitment and selection strategies
- Process job offers and support the line manager to deliver an outstanding onboarding experience
- Implement the learning and development policy
- Provide a mentor relationship to the People Assistant as they complete their CIPD level 5 qualification
- Work with the Senior Finance Manager to provide accruate information to the third-party payroll provider
- Monitor Total Remuneration and update the senior leadership team on trends
- Support change management processes at Symprove
**What we are looking for**
- A pro-active self-starter who can work both autonomously under their own steam and as part of a team
- A strong communicator who can adapt their style to communicate with a range of colleagues
- A trusted advisor who maintains confidentiality, always applies discretio
- Educated at degree level - ideally CIPD level 5, 7 or equivalent of a Post Graduate Diploma in HR Managemen
- Proven HR generalist with at least 10 years’ experience - ideally in fast growing businesses
- Proven leadership experience in both managing a people function and reporting directly to the board
- Must have experience from the commercial sector, including experience of a diverse workforce - ideally including colleagues working in office, factory, and warehouse context
- Demonstratable ability in developing and supporting line managers with day-to-day employment relationships, management and development of their teams, and supporting colleagues during periods of rapid change
- Experience of the Food & Drink sector, Direct-To-Consumer / Online businesses is desirable
