Our Devon highways team are looking to recruit apprentice highways maintenance operatives to work from our South Molton depot.
This excellent opportunity is the chance to be working for an organisation leading the way in reducing carbon emissions, driving a circular economy approach, and increasing biodiversity. Milestone have numerous industry accolades, including the Environmental Sustainability and Special Merit Award at The Highways Awards. Constantly evolving and meeting the ambitions of its clients across the UK. Milestone are also leading on the world’s first carbon negative highways infrastructure project.
This apprenticeship is an 18-month program, that will develop your practical, technical and soft-skills with Health & Safety at the heart of everything you do. On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will gain a Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative Level 2 qualification, a permanent opportunity, and a long-term career.
**What will the apprentice be doing?**
- Highways Maintenance(e.g. pothole repairs, grass cutting, winter gritting services)
- Providing traffic management for a diversity of projects.
- Working as part of our multi-disciplined teams to deliver innovative solutions to highways maintenance.
**What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?**
At the end of your apprenticeship, you will be awarded a Level 2 Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative Apprenticeship
Depending on your location you will be required to travel to college on block release with fellow apprentices and stay in a hotel for your relaxation time.
**What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?**
As a Milestone Apprentice, you will be recruited on a permanent contract and after completing your apprenticeship you will be promoted into the business. You will also have further development opportunity through professional qualification or training courses.
**Desiredskills and personal qualities**
Communication skills, IT skills, Number skills, Team working, Physical fitness.
**Qualifications**
GCSE or equivalent English & Maths (Grade Grades A* to C or 9 to 4) Essential
**Things to consider.**
You will learn all the skills necessary for this Highway Maintenance apprenticeship, through a combination of formal training and practical experience. You will work in a team alongside our highly experienced colleagues and you will benefit from their knowledge and their support daily.
