Wythenshawe, United Kingdom PS Recruitment Specialists Ltd Full time

PS Recruitment are looking for Senior Support Workers for our clients new service opening in Wythenshawe, Manchester.

This role is for 37.5 Hours Per Week, with a starting salary of £25,546. There is also a Sleep in Payment of £87.50 per sleep in covered.

There is also an enhanced payment for any weekend shifts covered with a 25% increase to hourly rate of pay.

Initially this role will be more outreach focused, working out in the community, with the view for a residential service to open once the defined need is identified.

**Service / Role Overview**

The work in outreach will include liaising with social workers, school and CAMHS to work towards a set of agreed outcomes. The work could vary in content and duration dependant on each family’s needs, so bespoke and creative.

The aim is to upskill families so that they feel better able to cope, keep the young person in the home and ultimately improve the whole family’s quality of life.

Accessing the residential side will be very short term this could look like visits in the day to work on independence and life skills or a limited number of overnights to re-establish sleep routines.

We could be working with a family where there is a recent diagnosis, or with someone just out of hospital setting or new behaviours presenting new challenge e.g., puberty, suicidal ideology, growing independence, sexual exploitation or vulnerability. A lot of our referrals will be because parents can’t cope with behaviours that challenge at home. All cases will be complex so require experience of autism already.

Many of the families will have complex backgrounds with mental health, abuse, DV, other children with disabilities, parents with disabilities etc.

Visits could be daily to someone not in school and we might work to transition them back into a school.

There could be visits into the community with the family or with the young person to work on their life skills

This could look like - helping families understand their child’s sensory needs, functions of behaviour through exploring family history and patterns, transferring good practice from school into the home e.g., routines, communication tools, etc

It could also be helping but in structure and boundaries, support with strategies to build resilience, signpost to other support networks. Sleep difficulties, sensory needs, use of technology, friendship difficulties come up a lot.

The seniors will be writing up reports of visits and collating information for assessments and to stakeholders.

They will be attending MDT meetings, EHCP meetings, etc

Seniors will manage a caseload of families which could be all over Manchester so ability to travel from place to place is essential.
