An Exciting opportunity has arisen and we are looking for a Night Care Assistant to join our team caring for our 10 year old son Charlie.Charlie has cerebral palsy, epilepsy and is registered blind, he requires assistance with all aspects of daily living.We are looking for someone who is passionate and caring, with a keen interest in this field of work.

**Job Title**: Night Care Assistant / Carer / Support Worker

**Location**:Fareham Po15

**Salary**:£10 - £15 Per hour (£15 per hour on Bank Holidays)

**ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

You will be responsible for following all aspects of Charlie’s Care Plan.

**Key Tasks**:

- Monitoring Charlie throughout the night, using the monitor and checking on him in person regularly (this is a waking night position).
- Administering Medication via PEG and recording / signing for all medication given.
- Monitoring for Seizures and following procedure should one occur.
- Disconnecting Milk feed pump, setting up and reconnecting.Troubleshooting if there is an issue.
- Repositioning Charlie throughout the night using Wendylett / slide sheets.
- Changing pads when required.
- Changing bed sheets / clothing when required.
- Physio (Using Charlie’s Physio program)

**Domestic Tasks**:

- Help to keep Charlie’s room / wet room clean and tidy where appropriate.
- Wash up syringes, bottles etc
- Wash bedding when required.

**You may sometimes be required to care for Charlie in an alternative location**:

- In Hospital - Required to monitor Charlie during hospital stays, this will include dressing/undressing, changing pads, giving medication (usually done by the nurses) and informing the nursing team of any problems (as well as contacting parents).
- You may be asked on holiday - this is optional and extra fees would be agreed (please see terms and conditions in your contract regarding holidays).

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**

Previous experience is an advantage but not a requirement,

**All staff require recent / in date qualifications in the following areas**:

- Manual Handling
- Administering medication
- Gastro Care / PEG Feeding
- Epilepsy

Training is provided if not already completed or in date (please be aware that if you leave within six months of training you will be required to cover the cost of the training)

Refresher training will be provided yearly (or when required)

Internal Training - You will be required to shadow nights until deemed competent and signed off in certain areas such as giving medication.

Reviews will take place regularly.
