The Warehouse Operative’s role is to facilitate and ensure that all inbound and outbound shipment is safely and accurately unloaded, received, checked, and put-away and execute all other tasks relating to warehouse operation in accordance with operational and health and safety procedures.
Must be able to follow standard operating procedures and work in a methodical and tidy manner, possessing a comprehensive understanding of material / stock management techniques and inventory control methods and procedures.
These roles are working Monday - Friday 08:30-17:30 (some flexibility dependent on workload)
**PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**
Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the warehouse operative has overall accountability daily warehousing operations which includes receiving, put away, inventory, picking, packing and delivery of items, operating Manual Handling Equipment as required and minimizing any losses and damages during these processes.
Complete all tasks with a high degree of accuracy to ensure and maintain organisation standards. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, health, and environment procedures.
Maintain a safe working environment within the Warehouse and reporting any incidents or accidents immediately to the relevant manager
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensure greatest care is exercised in safe handling of cargoes, and adequate protection provided to cargoes during handling, storing, packing and delivery.
- Ensure all incoming / outgoing materials are checked, identified, marked and stored as appropriate and in accordance with cargo receipt procedures set by company.
- Ensure proper administration and document control pertaining to receipt or issue of cargo including compliance to aviation security guidelines and HMRC
- Maintain workplace safety and security of the warehouse.
- Maintain workplace tidiness and cleanliness of the warehouse.
- Ensure non-conformance cargoes are isolated, identified and reported to immediate supervisor for appropriate actions.
- Ensure timely and accurate update of cargoes receipt / release to shipping, operations and procurement department.
- Warehouse personnel with Forklift License will perform Forklift Operator function when required.
- Ensure compliance to DG (Dangerous Goods) receipt, Check list completion and correct hazard type segregation and dispatch
- Perform packing & container stuffing / un-stuffing functions.
- Perform all duties/functions in accordance with HSE working practice guidelines
- Deliver individual and departmental KPI’s
- The Company reserves the right to vary or amend the duties and responsibilities of the post holder at any time according to the needs of the Company’s business
**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE LEVELS**
- 2 x GCSE’S - Desirable but not essential
- Previous Warehouse experience - Desirable but not essential
- Ability to challenge health and safety failures
- Use own initiative/proactive in suggestion improvement in procedures
- Relevant transport qualifications - Desirable but not essential
- Understanding of basic health and safety principles
- Good understanding of English language - Written and verbal
- Plan and manage own time well
- Strong computer skills on Microsoft Office
- The ability to adapt to in-house operating systems / Warehouse scanners
- DG Awareness
- Forklift License - Desirable but not essential
- D1 Reach & Straddle Truck/(relevant to operational requirement)
- B1 Counterbalance truck Up To 5000kg
- B2 Counterbalance truck 5000kg Up To 15000kg
