Applications are invited for a full time Security Officer to start with this team as soon as possible.

This post is based in our main security reception area at school. Working hours are rostered 12 hour shifts over a 7-day period. Shifts are from 7am to 7pm and 7pm to 7am, Monday to Sunday. The team consists of seven staff working an average of 42 hours per week over a year.

Responsibilities are outlined in the Job Description and revolve around providing physical security for people and property; site access control; key control and monitoring; fire/security alarm monitoring.

**Job Purpose**
- To provide physical security for pupils, staff and property at the School.
- To control access to the site and unlock/lock all buildings as directed by your LM.
- To control and account for the issue of all keys, Remote Gate Opening Devices (RGODs) and passes.
- To monitor all fire/security alarms on site and react as appropriate on activation

**Responsibilities/Accountabilities**
- Ensure the security, safety and well-being of all pupils, staff, visitors and the premises at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- To encourage, by modelling through own behaviour, respectful and fair working relationships with all team members and with all internal customers
- Remain smartly and correctly dressed at all times whilst on duty. NB, **Security Staff will often shape a visitors first impression of the School.**
- Adhere to all School policies and operating standards
- Remain in compliance with all government, Security Industry Authority (SIA) and School regulations pertaining to security and manual guarding procedures
- Immediately respond to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to pupils, staff and visitors.
- Protect the School’s, pupils and staff assets relative to theft, assault, fire and other safety issues
- Follow CH procedures for various initiatives, including fire prevention, routine security patrols and traffic/parking issues.
- Control the issue and recovery of all keys, RGODs and passes to the campus ensuring all losses are reported to the Housekeeping Manager for financial recovery action.
- Register all staff vehicles on the CH Vehicle Data-Base ensuring that staff are reminded to display a valid vehicle pass.
- Request the assistance from the Emergency Services as soon as possible on the discovery of situation requiring their presence on site.
- Assist emergency vehicles as they seek to find the incident location on the campus, this is particularly important during the hours of darkness.
- Keep the duty member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the Estates Bursar informed of all unusual occurrences on site. You must inform the SLT and Estates Bursar of every instance when the police, ambulance or fire department arrive on site.
- You must ensure the Reception building is manned at all times unless you have been given express instructions to the contrary. If you have to leave the building you must have a radio and mobile phone with you at all times.
- You are to monitor the School radio network (Security/BM/Fire Safety channel) at all times.
- You are to monitor the CCTV network and react as appropriate to unusual occurrences.
- You are to provide psychical support when requested by a member of the SLT to search a particular building/area for a lost pupil.
- You are to provide physical support, when requested by a member of the SLT, to attend a domestic dispute on site. However, you should not take the lead or attend any such incident on your own.
- To carry out the shift patrol programme as directed by the Senior Security Officer/LM when on duty.
- Support fully, the School Receptionist (_when on duty_) in the execution of their duties.
- Control the issue and return of all School vehicles, including keys, vehicle documents and fuel cards
- To carry out such duties that may be reasonably required by your line manager

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**Experience**
- Experience of working in the Security Sector (D)
- Experience of lone working (E)
- Experience of working in the education sector (D)
- Experience of working with/monitoring CCTV. (D)
- Able to deal with people from all walks of life in a calm and non-confrontational manner (E)

**Qualifications**
- Hold a valid SIA Licence (D)
- Hold a valid CCTV Operators Licence (D)
- Full UK Driving Licence (Cat B - Car) (D)
- First Aid Trained (or willing to be trained) (E)

**Skills & Abilities**
- Physically fit and robust able to undertake a 12 hour shift in all weathers with long periods of time on foot patrol.(E)
