Packaging Technologist

The purpose of this role is to drive the packaging development of Holland & Barrett own brand products across food, VHMS (Vitamins & Supplements) & Beauty.

You will be responsible for packaging development activities as part of the new product development process (NPD).

You will also support the Senior Packaging Technologist with the ongoing development of our packaging sustainability strategy to find better ways to reduce the environmental and ecological footprint of our own brand packaging through its life cycle
- Your role will help ensure all new H&B packaging has the right technical specification to meet consumer needs and our sustainability targets at the right cost & quality within agreed timescales.- The Role

Support the packaging development of H&B Own and Owned Label Products.
- Identifying and effectively managing all packaging and manufacturing technical risks with the support of the senior packaging technologist, acting where necessary to ensure products meet Holland & Barrett quality standards, sustainable design guidelines and current legislative and regulatory requirements
- Specifying the optimum primary, secondary & outer packaging in the most sustainable way possible
- Driving the development of testing & validation method in conjunction with the product developer and supply base.
- Liaising with our supply base & internal supply chain colleagues to carry out factory & transit trials

Support & inform the ongoing development of our Packaging Sustainability Strategy
- Carrying our regular competitor benchmarking
- Tracking & reporting on the achieved improvements
- The Person
- Minimum of 2 years packaging development experience, ideally within an FMCG or retail environment
- Knowledge of key packaging materials, print processes, artwork and origination
- Experience working with food and Vitamins & Supplements packaging
- Experience working with a sustainability agenda
- Passionate about putting the customer at the heart of what we do and exceeding their expectations

- Strong communication & influencing skills
- A strong team player, adept at building effective relationships and stakeholder management
- Results driven with strong attention to detail and a focus on quality
