Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join their team as the Head of Children's Residential Services. This is a crucial leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the delivery of successful therapeutically informed residential services across the UK.
**Job Purpose**:
As the Head of Children's Residential Services, you will be responsible for achieving the following objectives:
- Meeting annual commercial targets.
- Maintaining 'Good' or above Ofsted judgments in all homes.
- Developing people and teams in practice and leadership.
- Cultivating a culture of accountability, transparency, and openness within the service in line with Five Rivers values.
- Growing the service in line with business plans/key stakeholders, both organically and through acquisitions.
**Leadership & Management Responsibilities**:
- Serve as a visible child and people-focused role model across the services, recognising and appreciating exemplary practice and leadership while challenging and seeking improvements where necessary.
- Work at a strategic level for medium to long-term impact while effectively balancing day-to-day priorities.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with all key stakeholders within the residential service and across the organisation.
- Ensure homes are safe, well-resourced, and supported by effective leadership structures.
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and openness by implementing systems, processes, and positive leadership behaviours.
- Encourage attitudes and behaviours of professional pride, aspiration, and a 'can do' attitude across leaders and teams.
- Provide emotional stability, containment, and empathy to support their people during challenging times.
- Drive a relentless focus on continuous improvement, nurturing future leaders to support succession planning and growth in alignment with Five Rivers values and culture.
- Act as a representative and ambassador for the highest standards of residential childcare, both internally and externally.
- Be willing to make difficult choices, challenge and uphold the line of best practice to ensure the best possible service for the children under the clients care.
- Strive for a culture of autonomy and trust, empowering individuals and teams to work effectively when ready and able.
**Quality Responsibilities**:
- Develop and implement systems and processes to ensure all services maintain a minimum of 'Good' Ofsted ratings, including transparent reporting and monitoring with early warning signs and improvement action plans.
- Create an internal quality grading system to provide transparent and open information from the service to the Board level, recognizing and valuing great practice and leadership.
- Monitor compliance and health and safety effectively and to the required standards using robust systems and processes.
- Utilise a high level of practice knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, and response across the service, escalating and sharing issues/risk as appropriate.
- Foster effective joint working with the clinical team at all levels to support the embedding of the ATIC (Attachment, Trauma, and Informed Care) model and best practice.
- Ensure services fully understand and utilise effective assessment, planning, and outcome measures to support the best possible care for our children.
**Requirements**:
- Proven experience in successfully managing and leading children's residential services, with a strong track record of achieving commercial targets and maintaining 'Good' or above Ofsted judgments.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- A commitment to promoting a positive and nurturing culture for children, young people, and staff.
- Sound understanding of therapeutic approaches and trauma-informed care.
- Ability to work strategically while effectively managing day-to-day operations.
- Relevant qualifications and certifications in social work, childcare, or a related field.
- Willingness to travel across the UK as required.
If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people and possess the skills and experience required for this pivotal role, we would love to hear from you.
