We are currently recruiting for Buyer to join our team based in Orsett.

The Buyer is responsible for liaising with project sites to fulfil requirements with respect to all hired plant, materials and equipment. Placing orders for items and negotiating most favourable pricing as required.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Securing best prices for plant and materials using a range of internal and external suppliers ensuring correct quality and site requirements, i.e. lead times are achieved.
- Where items are not within the product catalogue, sourcing appropriate items from our suppliers, obtaining quotations and negotiating and agreeing the most favourable rates possible and placing orders
- Supporting the pre-qualification process for new suppliers
- Dealing effectively with site staff and the challenges with suppliers and the flow of materials
- Liaising with sites, dealing with supplier non-conformance, i.e. quality, health and safety and delivery issues.
- Ensuring compliance with the safety, health and environment requirements of materials, plant and equipment.
- Liaising with sites and the accounts payable team to resolve invoice and charging queries.
- Supporting the work winning teams by providing up to date market intelligence and prices for key products.
- Preparing reports as required for Senior Management teams.
- Delivering on ad-hoc requests, as directed by the Head of Procurement.

**Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications**

Essential
- Experience of working as a buyer within the construction industry
- Experience of maintaining databases
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills and the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Strong and confident communicator with ability to build effective relationships at all levels and with remote teams
- High levels of data accuracy and attention to detail
