To be provided with training and development opportunities to work towards becoming an autonomous HR practitioner. To aid this process assessment will take place on a regular basis.

To work as part of the ER team in the provision of a comprehensive HR service to all designated staff ensuring, in conjunction with the Senior HR Advisor, that the directorate objectives are met.

To provide high quality professional advice and support to managers and staff.

To undertake general HR tasks as required and appropriate to the grade. All tasks will be undertaken initially with the support and guidance of the HR Advisor/Senior HR Advisor until the required level of competence is achieved.

The post holder is initially assigned to provide service to designated groups of staff. However, it may be necessary to change the staff groups, dependent on the configuration of services, and the Trust reserves the right to do so.

Band 6
- To work as part of the employee relations team in the provision of a comprehensive HR service to all designated staff ensuring, in conjunction with the Senior HR Advisor/HR Business Partner and the Associate Director of Employee Relations that the directorate objectives are met.
- Provide advice and support to managers on particular aspects of employee relations and the implementation of policies and procedures.

Through a process of shadowing and reflective learning develop a full understanding of the Trust’s disciplinary

from the senior staff to provide advice and support to managers in the handling of disciplinary matters and grievances and assist managers in the preparation of disciplinary cases/hearings.

To take particular responsibility, under the supervision of a HR Advisor/Senior HR Advisor, for dealing with short and long term sickness absence issues across the Trust. This will include supporting/advising managers, attending sickness absence meetings with staff and reviewing sickness statistics to identify trends and problem areas for action.

Work with senior staff to develop the service to meet on-going requirements.

Assist managers in managing their staff, in accordance with good practice and employment legislation.

Work closely with the Payroll Department to ensure workforce information is kept up-to-date, and any problems are identified and addressed.

Work with the managers, work on requests for information, ensuring that timely and accurate responses are provided.

Assist managers in the management of poor performance, advising on solutions and assisting with their implementation.

To authorize travel expenses forms and Payroll documentation.
