**Project Lead (Major Projects)**_ _
Compensation: Circa. £100,000 + £7,200 flex allowance + up to 30% performance related bonus
40 hours, Monday - Friday. Hybrid working available
As a Project Lead at London Gatwick, you will be managing significant multi-discipline projects helping to shape the future of the world's most efficient single runway airport. London Gatwick is a place where ambition meets opportunity.
In this role you will be fully responsible for leading some of our major projects through early stage project development, in to execution and then handback in to operational use. Initially, you'll be at the forefront of our airport's development, leading a team to extend and transform London Gatwick's International Departure Lounge. These are exciting projects that will drive significant improvements in customer experience, enhance our commercial income stream whilst providing increased capacity that paves the way for future airport growth. After that? The sky is the limit.
Your goal? Of course, making sure your project meets its objectives and delivers against broader business goals. But ultimately, you'll enhance and transform our airport infrastructure and facilities at scale, creating a market leading experience for our customers.
**What is the role?**
Reporting into the Programme Manager, you'll have the opportunity to work on the full project lifecycle. You'll oversee the project team throughout the project's various phases from inception to completion, including design, procurement, construction, delivery, and handover. You'll also look after smaller projects as required.
You'll work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders up to board level, making sure everything runs smoothly, keeping projects on track, and within the budget.
Other duties include:
- Ensuring projects are completed within planned budget, timeline and quality/compliance standards. Also, leading the smooth transfer of the project to the relevant departments ensuring Airport Operational Readiness planning and activities are in place
- Helping the team grow by contributing to the development of standards, managing, motivating, coaching and mentoring team members. You'll be excited about helping talent individuals reach their potential.
- Continuously developing and upholding world class health, safety, and environmental standards across the programme and its contractors. Our aim is to achieve health, safety and environmental excellence.
- Taking ownership for identifying, documenting and mitigating risks that could harm the project or airport operations through the lifecycle of the project
- Taking responsibility for fulfilling laws and statutory obligations applicable to the project, including compliance to standards and necessary planning permissions
**What are we looking for?**
The live environment at London Gatwick requires all our teams to have a flexible and adaptable approach, with problem solving skills and an innovative outlook. In addition, this role requires:
- Significant experience as a Project Leader or Project Manager, leading infrastructure projects in a live operational environment. Your experience will demonstrate handling big projects or multi-year programs worth over £100 million (ideally in a relevant industry for example highways, airfield, rail or nuclear)
- Experience of leading teams of 10 people or more
- Demonstrable experience of communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, with multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities, to explain how you are working and why in a straightforward way.
- Proven leadership and influencing skills, along with the ability to motivate, coach, facilitate, and create learning opportunities for others.
**What's in it for you?**
Our employees tell us that working here is something special and no day is like another; Where our teams do something every day other airports only dream of. Along with a competitive salary our employees enjoy a range of personal, health and financial benefits, including:
- Performance-based bonus scheme
- High street shops and restaurant discounts
- Healthcare scheme
- Life and disability insurance
- Professional training to develop
- Discounted travel
- Volunteer days
