Williams Lea seeks a Database Administrator to join our team

Are you self-motivated with a “can do” attitude? Do you have a working knowledge of daily operations in one or more of the following disciplines: (NOC) Operations, IT Infrastructure Operations, and System Performance Management?

Norwich is one of Williams Lea CCM manufacturing sites across the UK. The site specializes in production of outbound and inbound document services. The site contains printing, mailing and warehousing capability for the purposes of outbound mail and postal receipt, scanning and document storage for the purposes of inbound mail. In addition, Production Services, Finance and IT functions reside on the site. Both Inbound and Outbound operations provide services for multiple customers.

The Job:  

We are looking for a Database Administrator who will be responsible for working on administration and architecture of Relational and Non-relational databases running on hybrid environment.

The Fit:

- Strong experience supporting Global locations handling L3/L4 tickets with 24/7 production environment.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience to work on providing SQL consultation for architecture design, development, implementation as well as administration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent inter-personal skills: diplomatic and able to inspire user and employee confidence.
- Experience with design, develop, and implement SQL database instances running in AWS.
- Knowledge of AWS Redshift database management and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of SSIS, SSRS, PowerBI.
- Experience with DMS (Database Migration Services) tools to migrate data from On-premises to Cloud.
- Certification AWS Certified Database - Specialty.
- Knowledge of Postgresql and DynamoDB.
- Basic knowledge of Windows & Linux systems administration.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in stressful situations.
- Ability to travel 10-25% domestically
Job duties:

- Primary focus will be database administration and maintenance.
- Demonstrate expertise to work on the following disciplines: database design, capacity planning, installation, configuration, migration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting as well as backup and data recovery of SQL, MySQL databases.
- Proven experience to work on planning of SQL database schema and structure modifications.
- Prior experience to work on migration of databases from earlier versions to latest for MS SQL.
- VB Scripting experience required to automate the tasks.
- Proven experience to maintain Security and Compliance for Databases.
- Deep knowledge/experience in debugging, analyzing database problems and performance optimization.
- Create and maintain programmatic and technical documentation of WL CCM DB design and solutions.
- Manage and document system configurations.
- Provides Tier 2-4 support for Database infrastructure as escalated by the Service Desk.
- Maintain issue tracking within WL CCM Incident Management toolset.
- Prior experience working on Amazon RDS, scheduling scripts against databases in AWS cloud technology would be an advantage.
- Requirement to work Out of Hours & weekends on via on-call Rota for P1 Incident support.
- Other duties as assigned
- Prior experience of working on clusters would be an advantage.
- Experience of Oracle databases would be an advantage.
