**H&W Material Controller**

**Reports to: Stores & Logistics Supervisor**

**Job purpose**:The main purpose of this role will be to maintain an operational focus and oversight of all material aspects related to a project. Manage the removal of items from a project and ensure it is tagged, logged (weighed if appropriate) and stored appropriately. This will include naval systems and items of a highly confidential nature. After strip out of the vessel the role will support the stores team.

**Responsibilities**

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Maintaining an Operational focus and oversight of all material aspects related with project issues on projects
- Validation of all items removed from a project and corresponding packing list. Ensuring item is tagged, weighed, and appropriately dealt with as per specified instruction, waste disposal, refurbishment or storage with appropriate traceability.
- Receive materials at various locations and verify material with packing list
- Prepare receipt documentation and arrange for inspection by Quality Control (QC)
- Ensure relevant parts received undergo a process of assessment via a suitably Qualified and experienced person (SQEP) this will include validation of specification.
- Arrange for labelling and binning of material after acceptance by QC.
- Prepare material issue documentation on request from procurement team and update stock position after issue.
- Highlight issues to Procurement team for items with unsatisfactory delivery estimates, missing or incorrect paperwork, incomplete REQs.
- Attend daily operational briefings as required.
- Identify material for projects as requested

PEOPLE
- Building relationships throughout the site in support of the project
- Collaboration working with various functions including Production and Procurement teams
- Challenge any packing list if incomplete
- Work with Supervisors/Managers in order to clarify requirements

REPORTING
- Keep up to date accurate records of all items removed from the vessel, be prepared to provide information to other functions of the yard as required.
- Raise non-conformance issues with Quality Manager.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
- The continuous improvement of all material handling
- Identify techniques to improve process on existing and future projects

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Must have experience in a stock control or customer service environment
- Must have experience of a quality management system, ISO 9001 etc.
- Experience in a shipyard or ship repair environment would be advantageous
- Experience in of IFS or similar would be advantageous
- Experience of pallet trucks, forklifts etc would be advantageous, training will be provided

Skills and competencies
- Must have excellent organisational skills
- Must have excellent computer and IT skills
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must be self-motivated and be able to work on their own initiative to resolve queries and problems
- Must have excellent customer service skills
- Must be a team player
