Our client, based in South Cambridgeshire, is looking for a Finance Business Partner to join their team. Reporting to the Finance Director, the role will involve project support, management information and reporting, and systems development. This is a fulltime role and hybrid working would be considered.

Responsibilities will include:

- Project Support:

- Responsible for all aspects of the project lifecycle, including new project setups, maintenance of existing project and projects closures on our client’s accounting software, client invoicing and credit control
- Preparation of the Project Tracker report and responsibility for the subsequent review of all projects with the business at a weekly meeting
- Providing accurate and consistent financial information to all Project Managers on a weekly basis and identifying opportunities to improve processes and provision of information to ensure the smooth running of projects
- Monthly revenue reconciliation, reporting and project reviews with Project Managers
- Supervision of the Finance Assistant, to support in the above and also coaching/mentoring, and ensuring ongoing learning and development.
- Management Information and Reporting:

- Assist in preparation of month end accounts, management information and analysis for monthly finance and consulting reports, ensuring all financial information is accurate and consistent
- Working with key stakeholders to understand financial performance and to prepare forecasts
- Provide support on ad-hoc reporting requirements including analysis that supports decision making
- Improving the impact, and understanding, of operational and financial reporting on business performance
- Supporting the annual budgeting process.
- The Finance Team:

- Dealing with queries and advising colleagues in the absence of the Finance Director
- Involvement in ad-hoc finance projects, reports and analysis as required by the Finance Director
- Share expertise and learning with the Finance team.
- Systems Development:

- Provide ad-hoc training to any new starters and project managers on project reporting and finance processes as required
- On-going administration and development of finance and project accounting software
- Support in evaluation process of the current finance and project accounting software and potential selection criteria and implementation of an ERP system to meet current and future requirements.
- A professional accountancy qualification with evidence of up-to-date knowledge and relevant management accounting experience
- Applied experience in a commercial environment and detailed knowledge of project revenue recognition
- Experience of using finance software and office IT systems and competent with Excel
- Team player with positive "can-do" and proactive attitude, solution orientated, and goal driven
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, ensuring clarity of messages, ideas, and facts
- Adept at persuading and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
- Able to build trusting and effective working relationships with all colleagues, in all groups
- Able to work effectively independently under own initiative as a leader and as part of a team

The following are desirable but not essential to the role:

- Experience of Sage 200
- Experience of working within a consulting or other professional services environment
- Experience leading small workstreams / initiatives
