Since 2018, BFS has delivered multi-trade repairs and maintenance across Central Scotland. We're a growing team built on one principle: right first time, on time.
The role
We're looking for an experienced Joiner to join our repairs and maintenance team.
This is an installation and repairs role. You'll fit new uPVC, timber and aluminium windows and doors, and diagnose and fix faults on existing ones, in homes and commercial properties. You'll know how these systems go together and how their mechanisms work. That means you can install to a high standard, find the real cause of a fault quickly, and get it right first time.
What you'll be doing
- Void property works bringing empty homes back to a lettable standard
- Responsive joinery repairs in tenanted properties including doors, frames, kitchens, flooring
- Identifying parts and products accurately: using surveys, technical drawings, specifications and manufacturers' instructions.
- Working on a mix of jobs: new installations plus planned and responsive repairs, in both occupied and empty properties.
- Working with other trades: plumbers, glaziers, electricians, plasterers and decorators, on larger projects.
- Keeping good records: job notes and before-and-after photos logged on our job management system.
- Looking after your kit: keeping your van, tools and equipment safe and in good order.
- Representing BFS well: being professional and courteous with customers, tenants and clients, and leaving every site clean and tidy.
- Working safely and compliantly: following Building Regulations, health and safety law and company procedures on every install and repair.
What you'll need
- A recognised joinery qualification (SVQ Level 3 or equivalent) or a completed joinery apprenticeship
- Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance, ideally in social housing or void works
- The ability to work on your own, plan your day and finish jobs to a high standard
- Good communication skills and a respectful, professional manner with tenants
- A full UK driving licence
- A valid CSCS card
- A basic understanding of Health & Safety on site
- Confidence using a smartphone or tablet to receive jobs and record time and materials
- Your own hand tools
Nice to have
- Experience in social housing or responsive repairs.
- A basic DBS check, or willingness to get one.
What we offer
- Company van, fuel card and mobile phone.
