Our apprentices are the future of our business. On our five-year apprenticeship programme, you will learn the skills to not only become a successful Engineering Technician across our equipment range, but also progress and qualify as a Multi-Skilled Engineer, with a fantastic range of future career options ahead of you, all within one programme. With the current levels of advancement in technology there could not be a more exciting time to join us, and following successful completion of your apprenticeship you will be offered a permanent role, with one of the best rental equipment providers in the industry.

This apprenticeship is a bespoke opportunity, developed in partnership with one of our key training partners, and offering two qualifications within one programme in addition to a wealth of practical hands-on experience and insight provided by the experts across our business. Ultimately, we will provide you with the training, experience and education to step into a formal Engineering role, sharing your expertise across our business.

Throughout the apprenticeship, you'll work within our network of service centres and on our customer sites, where you will learn to:

  1. Service and repair a diverse fleet of Plant and Tools equipment, as well as a wide range of specialist Powered Access machinery to meet company and manufacturer standards
  2. Inspect and function test a wide range of Plant, Tools and Powered Access machines to ensure they meet the correct operational and safety guidelines in-line with manufacturer specifications
  3. Diagnose and rectify complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults, using the most up to date diagnostic workshop equipment
  4. Order replacement parts and learn to fit them correctly, with on-the-job mentoring, in-line with manufacturer specifications
  5. Maintain accurate and comprehensive electronic service and maintenance records, with involvement in daily capacity planning to maintain fleet availability
  6. Develop in-depth product knowledge across a vast range of machinery
  7. Build excellent working relationships with service centre colleagues, and with customers, to understand their business needs and requirements
  8. Be involved in service centre daily team-talks (Huddles)
  9. Be involved in all workshop processes, procedures and safe systems of work (SSOW), risk assessments, method statements (RAMS)
  10. Have interface with a wide range of support functions including SHEQ Managers & Auditors, to better understand requirements for continual improvement within the service centre
  11. Become an ambassador for our "Customer First" culture, resolving any issues quickly and keeping your colleagues and customers informed, so they feel truly valued
  12. Manage multiple tasks and deadlines as part of a varied workday in a fast-paced operational environment

We'll provide you with a comprehensive company induction, role-specific training, and apprenticeship support. You will become a part of a larger apprentice cohort where you will be able to form lifelong relationships and engage in a wider support network.

We'll also support your personal growth and development in line with your Sunbelt Rentals career aspirations. You will attend both in-house and manufacturer courses to expand your product knowledge and skills.

Apprenticeship Training

You will initially complete a level 3 Construction and Powered Access Machinery Technician Apprenticeship Standard, followed by a level 4 Lead Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Standard with full HNC accreditation. This programme will be delivered using a combination of:

  1. Workplace experience to gain practical skills
  2. Guidance and training from an experienced workplace mentor
  3. Industry recognised training leading to an apprenticeship qualification. You will attend residential placements at a training centre and may be required to travel outside of your normal working hours

  3. Your application will be reviewed by our Recruitment Team and you may be invited to complete a video interview
  4. From there, the final stage of our selection process will be where you are invited to one of our in person assessment centres

  14. At least 5 GCSEs to include both Maths & English and a scientific/technical subject. Maths to be level 5/B or higher and all other subjects at level 4/C or higher, PLUS a level 3 qualification in a STEM subject e.g. A level (grades A-C), T-Level, BTEC Extended Diploma
