Job Summary:
We are seeking an Acute Paediatrics Clinical Educator to support staff development in acute paediatrics. Working alongside the Ward Manager and Matron, this role focuses on teaching, assessing, and enhancing clinical practice while supporting the Trust's Clinical Governance agenda. The educator will provide mentorship, training, and hands-on clinical guidance to staff.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and address staff learning needs.
  2. Maintain training records and conduct appraisals.
  3. Develop and implement staff training programs.
  4. Facilitate study days and professional development.
  5. Assess clinical competencies and support policy changes.
  6. Deliver mandatory training and ensure compliance with medical device training.
  7. Support student nurses with mentorship and placements.
  8. Act as a clinical role model and promote family-centered care.
  9. Train staff on hospital systems and new clinical procedures.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  1. Band 6 experience in an acute setting.
  2. Strong clinical knowledge of paediatric care.
  3. Experience in staff training and development.
  4. Leadership in a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable:

  1. Experience in policy development and audits.
  2. Strong communication and IT skills.
  3. Advanced clinical expertise in paediatrics.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  1. RN (Child) qualification.
  2. Degree (or working towards one).
  3. APLS, PILS, EPALS certifications.
  4. Recognised Mentorship qualification.

Desirable:

  1. High Dependency Nursing Course.
  2. MSc in Paediatric Physical Assessment.
