Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom South East of Scotland Transport Partnership Full time

Location: Area 3D Bridge, Victoria Quay, Edinburgh, EH6 6QQ

Salary: £34,250 - £38,104 per year

Contract Type: Temporary

Position Type: Full Time

Hours: 37 hours per week

Work From Home: Hybrid

About the role

We're looking for a Project Officer to join our team delivering projects across South East Scotland. The core focus of this role will be overseeing our new community grant fund as part of our People and Place transport behaviour change programme - working directly with community organisations to ensure their projects deliver successful outcomes, and are on time and on budget.

As one of our small team of Project Officers, you will also be involved in the direct delivery of a range of projects covering the entire range of transportation. Some of our current projects include the development of a regional Bus Strategy, pioneering work around incorporating digital technology into the transport system, work to improve access to healthcare in the region, and supporting the roll out of a public network of electric vehicle charging stations.

A key part of the role will be working to deliver our Regional Transport Strategy, both through your project work, contributing to subsequent strategies, and through working with our 8 partner local authorities to support their ambitions.

Within the partnership area there is a huge diversity of transportation issues that you will help address to build a more sustainable transport network that works for everyone. These issues range from urban congestion to rural public transport availability and promotion of active travel as an alternative to private cars.

About you

You will have proven experience in project management, and a strong understanding of key public transport and active travel issues and opportunities.

You'll have a degree level qualification or experience in a relevant field, and the ability to work independently to come up with creative solutions to a range of challenges and to support the region's transport strategy and contribute to involving stakeholders in policy development.

Excellent communication skills will be essential so that you will feel equally confident in dealing with decision makers or gathering information within our service.

Due to the nature of the role, you'll need to be able to work flexibly and independently, managing a range of projects with multiple deadlines and supporting other members of the team as required.

About us

The South East of Scotland Transport Partnership (SEStran) is one of seven statutory Regional Transport Partnerships established under the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005 to take a regional approach to transport planning and delivery.

The Partnership's principal duty and responsibility is developing and overseeing the delivery of a statutory Regional Transport Strategy, which sets out a vision, objectives and proposed actions for how transport will support and promote economic prosperity; connect communities and reduce social exclusion; and improve environmental sustainability, health and wellbeing.

SEStran encompasses eight local authorities: City of Edinburgh, Clackmannanshire, East Lothian, Falkirk, Fife, Midlothian, Scottish Borders and West Lothian.

Application Notes

This is a fixed term appointment for a period of 12 months.

It is anticipated that interviews will be held 17 April 2025.

Please note that this post is subject to Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks and the preferred candidate will require full clearance before an unconditional offer of employment is made.

Applications for this job cannot be made online. Please refer to the advert for further information.
