As a Smart Energy Engineer, you’ll be working at customers’ homes delivering a service we can be proud of and helping us achieve our mission of driving progress towards net zero carbon living.


This role in a nutshell:

You will play a key role in supporting our customers and OVO onto the path of Zero Carbon by visiting our customers, offering amazing Customer Service, carrying out Smart installs, and providing fantastic energy efficiency.


Your key outcomes will be:

  1. Being a passionate advocate of OVO’s Plan Zero and energy efficiency, delivering the highest possible level of customer satisfaction.
  2. Engaging with customers on the benefits of smart meters, including how to monitor and reduce their energy consumption.
  3. Responsible for the whole customer experience, ensuring you have the right materials stocked in your van and a proactive approach to pre-visit communication.
  4. Adapt working methods to install Smart metering systems in a range of customer environments.
  5. Look for opportunities to work collaboratively with peers and colleagues.
  6. Take ownership to work on your own initiative by regularly refreshing knowledge and skills.
  7. Carry out risk assessments to ensure safety of yourself, customer, and their property.

  1. Hold a CCN1/CMA1 & MET1 or Level 2 Smart Meter Diploma.
  2. Have a minimum of 6 months experience as a Smart Energy Engineer / Dual Fuel Meter installer.
  3. Hold a current full manual driving licence (with up to 6 points) valid in the UK.
  4. Have a strong desire to learn and develop, using creative thinking and adapting to new ways of working.
  5. Demonstrate key behaviours that align with our OVO values.
  6. Value different perspectives, skills, and experiences.
  7. Are comfortable talking to and helping our customers in their home.
  8. Are great at multitasking and handling your time effectively.
